So there is this trend everywhere, that really sounds ridiculously stupid in my head.
I MIGHT BE THE WRONG GUY HERE.
I do not wanna sound like an idiot here, but I really wanna know.
Why does
everyone lots of people put a question mark on
ANY thread title even if there is
NO freaking question on the title?
Look at my question on this very title:
"Question mark on thread titles for no reason.
Why?"
There IS a question. A one word question, but it's there!
Imagine me writing:
"Question mark on thread titles for no reason?"
I feel like this will sound stupid.
I will not use any other in-real-life examples, just a fictional that randomly came to my mind as an example, to demonstrate the trend:
If you want to start a thread, to ask for help on Luna Engine for example, you can write a title like:
"Help on Luna Engine. "
All right? Then you describe what you need. It's that simple, right?
Instead of that I see things like:
"Help on Luna Engine
?"
First off
this is not a full question. It can not be a question at all, just a subject.
So, this seems to me like a title that has a question mark for no reason there.
I suppose a correct question could sound like:
"
Can you help me please with a situation I have on Luna Engine?" or something
Someone started that thing then everyone else imitates.
And I was wondering...
Am I wrong reading and hearing that like a stupid trend or is it a correct and accepted thing to do in English literature?
English is not my native language so I can't be sure about it.
And also this whole thing is EVERYWHERE!
On Steam forum, here...
That is the reason why I ask. It might be a correct phenomenon.
Or it might be a swag trend, I don't know...
In any case I will learn something new, and I will solve a mystery that I hold inside me for a long time.
So I need your help people to let me know about it.
Not sure If this topic sounds stupid, but I imagine this question came to people's minds from time to time. Or am I the only one?
