Hi! I cant draw well. So I'm thinking of using 3d renders as character busts (my profile picture is a 3d render for example) I know most people on this forum are familiar with 2d more than 3d but I suppose you can give me suggestions and share your opinion with me. I'm almost done with tilesets and I have the 3d models for characters ready. I just need to render them, make lineart using renders as base and then colour them. However, I'm not using the 3d models directly at all. I got the parts used in the 3d models from various people. But since I'm not using them in 3d form, only using the render (2d) as base (for the lineart, cos I can't draw) do I need to credit them?

Yes--you should always use credit, even if whatever you're using is not for it's intended purpose. Also--be sure to make certain that the creator allows the use of their creations in such a manner that allows edits and transformations; as some may not allow it.

In other words--yeah, just credit them.

Exactly. Whenever you use something, anything, made by someone else no matter how much you change it (if editing is allowed) Or how little you use it or if you use it for another purpose then the one intended you should ALWAYS give proper credit.
Should be common courtesy really but Im glad you asked the question :)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
