Questions Regarding Using Resource Packs and Selling Your Game

Hello to anyone who may be able to answer this, I'm wondering if I can show my Title Screen on my webpage as the image for my commercial game when they buy it like in the store of my site, because I know you can only use the REsource Packs and RTP in Rpg Makers only, I've used the RTP and Samurai Pack to make my Title Screen all of which are not usually used for a title, but I think I'm allowed to alter the RTP and REsource Packs to make a graphic for the maker and sell it commercially I just dont want to get into trouble when I sell my game on my site, It would be awesome if its okay to show the Title screen of my game when people go to purchase it aswell as some screenshots. - just wondering if I can have my title screen people click to buy and they get the Game File when they complete there purchase

You're misinformed. If you think about it, if you're not allowed to show it on your website for legal reasons, then you also wouldn't be able to USE it in a commercial game for the same reasons.


Here's what you can and can't do:


- any resource from any maker you own can be used in a commercial game, if that game is made with Enterbrain's products (so if you own XP and Ace, you can use XP resources in your Ace commercial game, as well as the Ace resources).


- any resource you purchase from the official (or forum) store can be used in a commercial game.


- any resource you receive through the Member+ program can be used in a commercial game.


- any resource provided in the ReStaff releases can be used in a commercial game if the creator is in the list of creators linked at the top of the ReStaff thread who give their permission for commercial use.


- any resource someone has created and posted on the forums can be used in a commercial game if it is an original resource and the creator says it can be used commercially, or if it's an edit of a resource and both the original creator and the person who made the edit say it can be used commercially.


- any resource you commission someone to make for your commercial game.


- any resource you download from elsewhere on the internet can be used in a commercial game if you can determine who originally created it, AND they state on their site that it can be used commercially.


You CANNOT:


- use ANY resource commercially just because you have access to it.


- use any resource that someone has shared but didn't create themselves, unless you find out who originally created it and confirm that they allow commercial use.


- use any resource from an RPG Maker that you don't own.


- use any resource from a store pack that you don't own.


- use any resource that has been shared, where the creator has limited use to free games.


So if you have purchased both Ace AND the Samurai Pack, you can use all of those resources in your commercial game AND you can show screenshots of them on your site.


For purchasing (buy, then get the download link), you need to set up a payment processor. Check the "How to Sell Your Game" guide pinned at the top of this forum.

I think you misunderstood me or I didn't explain correctly. I was merely asking if - I am allowed to use a resource commercially (the RTP or Resource Packs ect.), Can I display the Title Screen I've made with the RTP as the product image on my site store. I'm selling the game not the title screen so I would imagine I would be allowed. But anyways thank you for the very well put together answer i think it was very descriptive. I appreciate it thanks Shaz!

- The only reason I wondered this was because you are only allowed to use it within the enterbrains makers commercially so displaying it on your site with a price beside it is questionable to me anyway

Ah, okay. Yes, you are allowed to use screenshots on your website to advertise your game You can also use screenshots and videos of gameplay footage to display on your website, on facebook, anywhere you want to advertise your game.

What he/she means is, using one of the resources provided in a resource pack that he/she owns (in possibly an edited manner?) as a display image.

I think if the resource pic you want to use is slightly altered by you, like including Title words or photo-editing, then it should be fine. However posting the plain, un-edited resource somewhere is not. (Considered possible distribution)

Ahh thank you Shaz for clearing that up because the EULA says you can not make any profit off the resources outside of the maker i believe, so i got confused About that. It would really suck if you couldn't show screenshots.

You are not asking people to pay to see the title screen on your website. You are asking them to pay for your game.
