Okay I'll try it and see how it goes. But I'm a complete newbie at scripting :( Do you have any suggestions as to where (which event, that is) I could call the script ? Or do I input it somewhere in the script editor ?

Event commands > page 3 > bottom right corner > Script.

Don't type Script: into the window - just what I have after that.

Yeah, but I meant where in this situation could it apply ? Your script calls on self-switches for a certain event, or is it something else ? Do I create a parallel process event running the script ? Yeah, complete newbie.

No. You said you activate the light from another event. This is what you do in that other event to activate the light using self switches.

Oooh... okay. But when I tried that, it said : "Syntax error while running script". Here's how I inserted it, as well as an image of the actual separate light event :

yeah - you've got an older version of the engine that only allows a narrow script box. I suggest at some point you redownload and reinstall (you only need to install Ace, not the RTP).

However, to keep you going in the meantime, change it to this:

Code:
$game_self_switches[[8, 3, 'A']] = true
The reason is allowing it to make its own line breaks usually ends up with the break in an inappropriate place. It tries to process the first line on its own, and it's not a full command, so it fails. Changing the location of the line break tells it it's not a command on a single line and that it needs to run them together.

Okay, did as you suggested. It works perfectly well with this method, so I guess if anyone wants to make a torch without too many scripts, this'll come in handy.

@Shaz @Warpmind @mlogan Thank you very much, all three of you, and especially Shaz, always the friend to newbies :D I'm marking this topic, which has already gone on for far too long, as "answered". Thanks again Shaz you're awesome !

Glad Shaz came to the resuce again! And sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was trying to work out a graphic to simplify but the more I simplified, the more complicated it became, lol!

Shaz is awesome!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
