Yeah man, its the economics of fear. Essentially, they are worried about their "brand" being damaged and so they are trying to create a bottleneck.
This is the thing though, at the end of the day, you don't think all hamburgers are horrible just because you ate a White Castle Burger one time.
The idea that "all RPG MAKER MV games are ****" doesn't mean they are. There are workarounds. For instance, I mentioned this earlier, but if you are ever going to be releasing your game commercially, you should completely abandon the MV style and art assets. Even a poor visual has more personality than the stock images and style. People will recognize the same faces and think its just an MV game. However, having original content will draw the eye.
People don't think MV games are ****, just the same way they don't think all hamburgers are ****, they just look at it and if it looks like a white castle burger they are probably going to opt out.
Nothing is ever going to change the stigma. It doesnt help that a lot of the most famous games are light novels or hentai games either. As its my opinion that does more damage to the brand. But if you make a good game, a game with a strong identity, then you will draw attention and people will want to play it.
So people need to focus more on making their own product the best it can be and less on policing what others should or should not do or want. Of course, anyone can vote anyway they like, but if their vote is PURELY to stand in someone else's way... well, that kind of gate guarding in a creative medium serves no one. Its poor form.
