Hello all,

I am using sort of a Yanfly suite for my game, I have: The core engine, battle engine, party system, class system, change party in battle, battle equip, class unlock, visual battlers, equipment, messenger, status menu, shop system, menu system, command icons, menu cursor, steal, item menu, and menu editor scripts..

Haha I just barely started using this program and can tell Yanfly is some kind of super genius.

Anyway..

I'm having a problem getting all of my menu options and various other icons or symbols to show and don't know where to edit them.

For example in the Yanfly Command Icons script I have:

      "To Title"      => 8044,    # Game End scene.
      "Cancel"        => 8048,    # Game End scene.

These work fine but the list appears to either be missing a good number of other menu sections or I just don't know where to change them.

If I talk to a shopkeep the "Cancel" will have the proper icon but "Buy", "Sell", and "Equip" have nothing, this makes things look awkward. (Example below)

Has anyone ran into anything like this before? Am I perhaps stacking scripts? Do I need to edit the Command Icon script to include missing entries?

I've been digging for a long while and I could really use some help.

Thanks!

*Edit: added more examples.*

So you are using MV? This is a VX ACE support forum.

Edit: Oh jeez sorry I misread your post xD

I kind of like the shovel, but I can't think why your icons arent working sorry :(

Yeah this is all Ace and I have no idea how to edit these certain areas, I've looked all over and there doesn't seem to be a way to modify them.

I've moved this thread to RGSS Script support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Please give links to the script you're using, we can't help you without checking it ourselves.

That said, I'm pretty sure that Yanfly had included the options for the other default menues, but of course he can't place the code for screens that are not default (as rhose would have to be set in the scripts that create those scenes)

I apologize, I'm new to this forum so I don't really know where things go.

Seeing as I'm using pretty much all of Yanfly's scripts it's pretty hard to link them all: https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/

I suppose the only relevant ones to this topic would be:

https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/menu-scripts/ace-item-menu/

https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/menu-scripts/ace-menu-engine/

https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/menu-scripts/ace-skill-menu/

https://yanflychannel.wordpress.com/rmvxa/menu-scripts/ace-status-menu/

Although I think only the item menu and menu engine would actually be what I'm looking for..

I've attached another example that shows my main menu with full icons and it looks cool and I'd really like to fill in the missing pieces on the menus.

I'm hoping that someone has run into this problem before and knows what's going on, there has to be some way to edit these other menus.

Thanks,

You don't need to edit those menus, you need to edit Yanfly's Command Icons script.

Just enter the name of the commands (any command name you have in your game) you want to show an icon at the same place you see the rest of the settings for "Items", "Skills", and so on, and assign an icon for them (the number right from the => sign is the icon index).

So, for the Sell command, enter this:

"Sell" => 450,

This sets icon 450 for the "Sell" command.

You can any other command button names like that. Make sure to add a comma after every pair of settings!

Note that if the script in question uses a different method to display the command name (not the default one, or an overwritten method), chances are, Yanfly's script won't work on that one.

And on a final note, you should read the description of the scripts you add into your game. I am pretty sure that Yanfly explained how to add new settings in his script.

That's it! Thank you so much for your help.

And with that lead I found that in the Yanfly Battle Engine script there is a "No action icon" at about line 256, this explains the shovel.. In case anyone else googles this in the future..

Again thanks for your help guys!

Also for anyone that may google this in the future to change the icons of buffs and debuffs it's in the Game_BattlerBase on about line 46 where you specify

  ICON_BUFF_START       = 64
  ICON_DEBUFF_START     = 80

Where they both have 16 tiles, so 64-79 and 80-95

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
