Random Target and random strikes

I'm currently having trouble figuring out how to create a skill that actually acts in the way that I want. I've tried using Hime's random repeat plugin and I've tried just using default "Repeat" for this.

I'm trying to create a magical lightning attack that strikes randomly at enemies. I want the lesser version to strike a random target from at least 3 to a max of 5 times. The strongest version to strike a random target at least 15 times to a max of 25 times.

However, I can't seem to get it to choose a random target for each bolt. The best I seem to get is to strike the same target (that was randomly selected) and hit that target multiple times, or repeat the damage multiple times.

What do I need to do to get this spell to work the way I want it to?

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Post in the appropriate Script Request subforum, not Game Mechanics Design.

If you're using VX Ace, you can use my Enhanced Random Targets script to pull this off.

Did not know that I would require a script for this..

I assumed maybe it was just something simple that I might be overlooking.

Ah yes. I should have mentioned I am using MV

Even ifnit were something simple, this is not the correct forum. General Discussion is about general principles of game making which could affect several or many games. It is not a "how do I do this?" forum. I will ask to have this moved.

I've move this to JS Plugin Support

Please add a link to the plugin you're attempting to use.

Oh umm ok. I thought correctly targeting something sounded like a general game making priciple.

I shall provide links to the plugins I have attempted to try once I get to my pc, but not necessarily requiring that plugin to be used since it doesn't get the result that I thought it would.

I'm just concerned with being able to repeat a spell on random targets, but I need it to randomly select in between each hit. Like if I create a skill with the scope "One Random Target" and "Repeat = 9" Instead of selecting a target at random once and striking that same target 9 times, I want to randomly strike 9 targets while reselecting a new target for each hit. Does that make sense?

If it's something you can do in the database, then yes, it is. But if there's no way to do it in the database and you're trying to use a plugin to achieve it, then it goes to Plugin support. I haven't used the plugin and I haven't needed to set up actions like that. It may be that you don't need to use a plugin. I moved it here based on you saying you were trying to set it up via the plugin.

" I've tried using Hime's random repeat plugin and I've tried just using default "Repeat" for this"

Well yea. I was just making it known what I have attemtped. I have tried setting it up by default (I've messed around quite a bit trying to figure it out on my own with no plugin).

I have also tried this plugin (http://himeworks.com/2015/11/random-repeats-mv/) in hopes that it helped, but not so much.

I'm wanting to achieve the desired result with any plugin, if I must, or without one. I admit that I could easily just not know how to do it--thus my post seeking advice.

Regardless of what forum this post is decided to be placed in, if anyone does know how I can achieve what's mentioned above, please let me know. It will me much appreciated ^_^

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
