Hello all,

I have written an introduction post before, back in 2014, and then I barely participated due to life-things happening - health related amongst other things. I had actually forgotten I had made a post before - it was back in the VX Ace days apparently. I suddenly remembered RPG Maker again some weeks back, and I was pondering whether to get MV or not, but now I've gone ahead and bought it. I have been watching a ton of tutorials on YouTube, been reading some about the program, and all in all I'm actually excited to try and create something. :)

I'm not exactly sure what else to write, or even where to start - even if I've been watching tutorials. Would Darrin Perez' books be a good starting point?

Welcome (back)! MV is fun, if you know JavaScript it's twice as fun. If you have a project it's 4 times as fun, and if you work on a team, it's 3 times as fun.
The team modifier does stack on top of the project multiplier, and the JS multiplier is a factored against the final result.

You can add plugins, too, but the fun multiplier is kind of dependent upon compatibility

Thanks for the welcome back. I don't know JavaScript, but I suppose it could give me a reason to look into it. :)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
