So, someone was awesome enough to teach me how to type out custom names in text. \N{Actor id}.

Now I am wondering if it is possible to do the same for a specific variable? I am working on a rank system and wanted players to go up to a person behind a counter and ask about their rank.

The person behind the counter should say something like, "Your points/rank is {number}."

Is it possible to do that or am I going to have to use conditional branches and manually put in certain points for it?

You can create a dummy actor and save the rank into his name. With \n[xxx] you coud integrate the name in your textbox.

RMMV
Or just use \V[n]     n being the variable ID.

If you hold your mouse over the ShowText box (where you type stuff in) it gives you a list of code commands.

Dang I was close to figuring it out by myself but I made two small typos. Thanks.

There is also a script that lets you write the contents of a variable into your menu texts as well.  That could probably be useful to you.

I wish I could link it.  Sadly I haven't fixed my forum problems yet and can't use note tags ;_; .  But if there comes a point where you want to do this just send me a PM and I'll message you the script so you can try it out.  It's very easy to use.  And it's nice to be able to show variables in both your message and menu texts.

Through the in-game menu? That'd be great. Once tournaments start, I want to get players to really get a feel like they are part of it. If I could get their rank recorded on the status screen somehow, that'd be sweet.

\V[n] will display the value of any variable in the text box. Before the text event, do a control variables: set (Game Data) Actor's Level so the variable is up-to-date. Although without scripts, you would have to re-set the variable every time you use the \V[n] control characters.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
