Could someone point me towards some good scripts for real-time combat?

I'm looking for either:

1: a Legend of Zelda style action RPG where you can move and attack freely with equipped abilities/weapons

2: a Secret Of Mana/Fallout Tactics/Tales Of... style script where you can move freely, but need to build up action points (TP?) that you then spend to attack or cast spells.

Thank you very much!

To be honest, I wasn't sure what terms to use.  "Real Time Combat" in quotes?

ETA: Just tried it and found some useful resources, particularly this tutorial.

If you wouldn't mind I'd like if if you left this thread open. I'd like to see if anyone else can point myself and any other people who were wondering about this to other resources.  But I'm going to give that a watch and see how much it helps.

I would start with the games that have the combat systems you're trying to imitate.

When someone makes a script request, they're likely to say "I want a combat system like Legend of Zelda". I bet Zelda will bring up a few entries in the scripts or script requests forums. Then do the same for the other.

The Master Script List might have something useful as well.

We call this an action battle system : ABS.

Here's an example : http://www.atelier-rgss.com/XAS/Manual.htm

There's also Falcoos'script but I do not have its link.

2: a Secret Of Mana/Fallout Tactics/Tales Of... style script where you can move freely, but need to build up action points (TP?) that you then spend to attack or cast spells.
I hope that you undertstant that those battle systems are totally different ?

Secreft of mana is an (kinda) action rpg, similar to Zelda but with less freedom but instead has companions.

Fallout serie is a (kinda) tactical rpg.

Tales of serie combat system is close to Secret of Mana (since you can move freely during battle).

You should make up your mind of what you search for.

If you're more towerd Fallout tactic, you've that script : GTBS

But it's not a real time combat, meaning that you will be teleported on a special battle map.

Real time combat is usually used for battles that are directly on the map, meanning that you're not teleported on special map.

Zelda is an example, like Chrono Trigger too.

Though, I would advise you to learn the basics first since you seem to be new to Rpg maker.

There're lot more things that you will need to manage and understand beside combat system so you might feel overwhelmed if you try to learn to much at the same time.

They are (depending on what exactly you want, don't know those games) often called either
"Action Battle Systems" (ABS, usually with on-map-battles)

or

"Active Time Battles" (ATB, usually without movement in a battlescreen)

More like Secret of Mana or Tales, then: an Active Battle System with AI allies, possibly with menus that pause the game when you cast spells.  I've played a game made in the VXAce engine that does more or less exactly what I was thinking of, save that you only have one party member at a time; Avarice.

I'm familiar with the GTBS and rather like it; I certianly like it enough to use it for Warriors of Harmony.  As you said, though, I'm specifically looking for what you've called an ABS.

Part of it is that I work with a programmer that has a perfectly good tactical game engine thank you, but is interested helping me with an ABS game made in RPGMaker.
