Is there a way to rearrange maps? For example if I want to move a map up or down one in the list.

The only way I know how is to drag the map to the top map in in the hierarchy, which will put it right at the bottom, then I need to manually drag every other map TWICE to get them under the map I'm moving and back in their correct position. This is a huge waste of time.

Also, where do I post for suggestions in future updates? I find this an amazing oversight and am surprised more people haven't pointed it out.

I am pretty sure Rpg maker will always organize them by rank and givin a map id.

So if you have maps and you want them in a specific order you kind of have to group them together by putting one map as a sub under the others.

For what it's worth, here's my take on this...

If there are to be a large number of Maps (enough for it to be worth worrying about the order...) I would consider writing them out on paper first, then, once I'm happy with the overall plan, create them in that order, all at once, just as 'default' empty Maps, as 'place-holders'. That way, as I flesh out the real contents of each Map, they are already in their rightful place.

Another tip is to group Maps that are to stay together. My current Project has 57 Maps, for instance, but only 12 groups. One town has 5 Maps, another contains 11 Maps which, in turn, contain other sub-Maps. I can therefore move a whole group if required, retaining the internal arrangement of the group.

Just my way of arranging things; I don't find it to be a major issue, as it's down to me to think abut my plans beforehand, or suffer the inconvenience if I've overlooked something. It doesn't take me long to correct any misplaced Map, so I don't have any need for more functionality.

Hope this helps.

I have struggled with this plenty too, For example...

Today before work I was doing some dungeon mapping, and I had all my maps in that category set up just how i wanted it.

I then accidentally dragged my laptop mouse the wrong way, dragging a map into another universe and was gone forever.

there is no UNDO for map changes.

So always be really careful when moving categories of maps around.

Could you imagine a word processor that was designed like this?

Plan everything you are going to write beforehand as you can't change the order, cut and paste or even undo?

Worse than a typewriter, at least you could use scissors and a tape...

Oh well, back to the otherwise amazing software I've poured so many hours into.

I must just be too old, I suppose. My habits and training from well before WYSIWYG and cut'n'paste have spoilt me.

How many Maps are you having to manipulate..? My 50-odd may be puny in comparison, in which case you may have a point. If this is your worst problem with the software, though, you're not doing so badly, perhaps..?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

141 so far as I'm doing a point and click adventure game and each map is quite small, but needs to be carefully ordered to minimize confusion.

Making a mistake takes a huge amount of time to reorder. Thankfully I found a backup of the project I made earlier today and just went back to that, quicker than trying to drag and drop so many maps.

I will be making hourly backups now, respect for your disciplined forward planning :)

make a copy of your project and tinker around with the copy, if it works do it to your main project.

That is literally ALL you can do is trial and error unless someone can find a cure, which doesn't seem to exist.

I am a google master, and I googled haaaard for this one boys and girls.
