Overview
Time
time travels faster when traveling the world map. Each few stapes will be a day.
Camera overview
A fixed top down or isometric camera that follows you around. When in the world map you will get a satellite view.
Game Engine
We will use RPG Make VX Ace. We will modify the scripts so that it does what we require of it.

Philosophy
This I our attempt at creating a mature 2D RPG. This has come about after seeing that main stream games are too afraid to take a chance and deliver a mature story to gamers. Some games try and somewhere along the lines give up and revert back to "gamers are just kids they don’t get any of this". We are going to try and push the boundary of games as art. The goal is to present a truly unique world that is real and cruel like our own without shying away from the brutality that exists.
Story
A dark tale of a young man and the things he has to overcome in life and his tragic demise. Themes of loss, religion, love and forgiveness will be explored along with war and what its toll is upon the people.
There isn't much I can say since it's not a "Great evil tries to destroy the world and a band of anoying kids save by finding some random artifact because of reasons". My goal is to explore as deep as posible every theme we present.

Main story is as long as it needs to be, by that i mean that i am in the process of re-writing the story and the first time it was around 45 thousand words and now i am not even half way and have already passed that. We're looking at deep experience that seeks to immerse the player. And with the side quests the game will be a lot longer than that.
What is the game?
The game is a 2D action RPG, with many other mechanics added to give a new experience. It is set in a fantasy medieval world that is not fantastic. And will feature brutal, gory combat.
Why create this game?
To provide an intriguing story that is deep and will make you feel uncomfortable, a story that will have you thinking for a long time after you have finished it.
Where does the game take place?
The game takes place in Lehen Lur a world that is relatively young, but full of turmoil. Specifically in the Valerin Kingdom.
What do I control?
You take the role of Andrew, and sometimes you will play as an unnamed soldier. Andrew is a young man that will rise up against the oppression and build his army to fight for his people.
How many characters do I control?
You only directly control Andrew or the soldier, but you will be in a party of five at most and you can give the others commands and build your tactics accordingly to the fight. You will also be in charge of your army from time to time and will have huge field battles.
What is the main focus?
You have to bring peace to Valerin and overthrow the king. You do this by gathering characters and building your army.
What’s different?
The game will feature a brutal 2D combat mechanic; this game will not be a battle of the health bar. The player will have to actively gather his army and grow its number by getting nomads to join or keeping the people happy so that they support your army. There will be army battles, some story based and some random. A lengthy campaign with many side stories and characters that you need to recruit.

The player will be able to attack freely but only as a single strike.
If you want to do a combo then you fill two bars, each bar is an additions strike.
Normal strike = 100 DMG
Two strikes(Normal plus one bar) = 75 DMG for a total of 150 DMG
Three strikes(Normal plus two bars) = 60 DMG for a total 180 DMG
Or the player can use up both bars for a critical strike.
When enetering a critical a sphere will show on the map telling
you who is in range, you select the bodu part you want to strike
and bassed on a percentage you will know if it will land or not.
Head- Small chance of hit but if landed it will kill enemy
Body- High chance but the bulk of armor is there reducing DMG. If you hit after some damage has been done to the armor before it might insta kill.
Arms - Depends on angle or if they are holding shield. If hit can disarm.
Legs- If hit it imobalizes the enemy.
Most criticals can cause bleed or remove threats such as the arm wielding the sword or cut of a leg and so on.
You gain bars slowly from evading and blocking or if you get hit.

Field battles.
Throughout the game story you will fight army battles on the map, these will be turn based like a tactical RPG, there will also be random field battles that you can take on, it will be a good way for each unit to gain experience and become more effective in its class. When you go in to a Field Battle you will see your army units (spearmen, swordsmen, cavalry etc) you will then choose which unit you want to take command of and choose its action for that turn, a turn end when all units have completed their turn. The type of unit will decide how far you can move, the reach of your attack and what special abilities you have. Each unit will have officers roles that will be taken by characters you have collected thus far; each officer adds to the attack and defense of the unit some will give extra abilities. After getting close to an enemy unit and choosing the attack option you will be taken to the battle screen where you have a limited amount of time to do as much damage in real time combat.
• Archers> foot units. If they are shooting arrows, if engaged in hand to hand combat the archers will take massive damage. Keep your archer at a safe distance.
• Foot units> archers. Get close to deal damage, there are many types of foot units making them very versatile, some are stronger than others. When you're creating your new unit you can choose what type it will be.
• Cavalry> foot units. Use the cavalry wisely and plan your attack, horse will get tired. Try charging from the sides or back, the cavalry charge is a special skill once you choose the direction it can't be changed, when the horses are tired retreat them so they can rest.
• Archers> foot units. If they are shooting arrows, if engaged in hand to hand combat the archers will take massive damage. Keep your archer at a safe distance.
• Foot units> archers. Get close to deal damage, there are many types of foot units making them very versatile, some are stronger than others. When you're creating your new unit you can choose what type it will be.

At a point in the story you will receive your own headquarters, there you will have shops and craftsmen. Your base grows by recruiting new characters from the side stories.

Valerin
The Grehn Empire ruled the country with an iron fist and oppressed the common people, ensuring only that the ones in power or in the favor of the emperor could live in comfort while the rest suffered and died from the disease and famine that was spreading throughout the country brought by the eruption of Vherdu.
After many years of oppression the people revolted against the empire and defeated them claiming their independence. The kingdom of Bristan was born from the revolution. The royal family controlled the country for the next twenty years until prince Staurf took control and began oppressing the people once more.
Again the people revolted, this time led by Valren Gres who fought the prince for the next twenty years until he die from old age and command was taken up by his son Taren. Taren fought the remaining part of the revolution and defeated the prince in the capital city, Linburn.
And so he renamed the country Valerin to honor his father. Thirty years have passed since, lord Taren is stricken by a disease and lying on his death bed, with Baren his son set to take the throne.
The Physical World
Overview
Valerin is a dark and moody weather place. People there make their living of the land which is rich and fertile. Valerin is home to the largest city on the continent Linburn. The people of Valerin hate the empire and everything it stand for still remembering the cruelty that they had to endure.
The Valerin have a strong military force with world renowned riders. Citizens have to give three years of mandatory service to the country from the age eighteen if they choose to join the army.
Travel
you travel on the world map from location to location by the roads that connect all this places together. The travel will be similar to Final Fantasy Tactics.
Weather
During the winter the country is dark and gloomy; it does not rain much off season. During the spring and summer time the country is full of colors and vibrant. Weather will also affect your battle tactics.
Day and Night
During the day it is safer to travel, at night you will see more bad guys and you will have more fighting. Also some missions for the side stories can only be done at night and some characters will only appear at night. When reaching a travel point you can choose to either enter it during night or day time. The chalange will vary acording to the time.
