It's rather difficult for me to find new tunes that I can jam out to. Music discovery is just tough (part of that is because I don't use Spotify. Before, I used Pandora Radio back when it was popular, but I have since moved to a new country where Pandora is not available - I'm not even sure if Pandora is still around any more).

I'd say that I have pretty picky music tastes, but I will also say that I am very adventurous with my taste too. I am always willing to give new music a try, it's just that rarely does it stick with me. So I am hoping if folks just shotgun blast all of their favorite artists and album onto this thread, maybe one will stick with me.

I'll get you guys started, as I would also like to participate in this, so here's a (very large) number of favorite artists (I specifically have chosen artists & songs that I enjoy the whole album the song comes from, eliminating any "singles" or "EPs" I enjoy)

If you also write your own music, this is a totally acceptable time to share your own stuff too, but it would be nice if you include some other artists along side your own music

If you dared to even preview each of every song linked above, you likely will have noticed that my taste in music is quite diverse, and I don't have a preference in genre. What I usually look for is something that is unique and has it's own identity. I think it's fair to say many of the artists I have listed above have their own sound and style that is uniquely identifiable to them. I also have a large number of soundtracks. Go figure, I play a lot of games and it often becomes my source of discovery for music. Some of the soundtracks I listed above have come from games I have never played before, but I heard their soundtrack somewhere before and loved it.

I spent way too much time of the 860 plus hours I played Stellaris listening to a mod that had music from/inspired by the Touhou Project. I had a lot of music mods installed but that was amongst my favourites. I took the music from that to make a personal mod for Rimworld for when I was playing it.

I have an eclectic taste and will listen to just about anything depending on my mood - funk, jazz, rock, pop, salsa, house I listen to it all.

For my early morning group fitness training at 5.45am I once set up a speaker to play music basically to take the piss but since then it's become a thing where I have a theme for the music selection. Sometimes the themes are nominated by other members - songs with Run in the title, another time it was Glam Rock.

Tomorrow's theme is Disney songs - suggested in secret by one of the girls because she knows itwill annoy the instructor (musical theatre has now been banned.)

I haven't thought about Apocolyptica in a long time. Back when I was learning Cello, I had a handle for Cello-centric artists that I studied. Jami Sieber, Yo-Yo Ma, and there was this cello quartet that waas pretty popular but I just can't recall the name of it. I feel like their name had some sort of medical vibe to it...
Anyways, I still occasionally listen to Jami Sieber. Her cello sound is so interesting and unique, I've wondered how she's able to get her instrument to sound like that...

@alice_gristle I've known about Iron & Wine for a very long time since years ago I listened to The Postal Service religiously and since they were both signed to the same label, it wasn't long until I discovered them. However, funnily enough though I listened to a little Iron & Wine back then, they weren't much of a favorite of mine. It wasn't until probably just a few years ago I decided to check in on them, and fell in love with their...not-just-a-guy-with-a-guitar albums, like Morning Became Eclectic and Kiss Each Other Clean (though I prefer Morning Became Eclectic over Kiss Each Other Clean). That said, I like the song you shared, but it makes me wish these folks (Iron & Wine and this dude you shared) would go back and record these old songs on...not potato hardware. On the one hand, I really love the flaws that make their music feel like it is made by humans, but...the mic hiss, over-saturated, low frequency response recording is just brutal to appreciate. It doesn't have to be a perfectly clean recording...just cleaner than that. I have a low-end, general consumer pocket tape recorder that can get cleaner quality than what these folks are recording on. It's like they deliberately chose the oldest tapes that had at least 50 erasures on them for their recording.

How about Starset? Their style has gradually changed from rock to something more cinematic, but the themes of science and astronomy are still very prevalent.

Ghost is like a love letter to the 1980s "Satanic Panic". Very theatrical group if you ever get the opportunity to see them in concert.

Astrophysics is still a relatively new addition to the Synthwave scene. They initially got the ball rolling by doing synthwave covers of popular anime and meme songs before branching into their own original music. I can't really describe their original music other than taking cues from Sovietwave and Russian "Doomer" music.

Snakes is an underappreciated modern country band that flies under the radar. It's a refreshing escape from the commercialized country they always play on the radio.
