The Story

It is the 259th year of the Galactic Empire, approx 800 years after the invention of the W-Drive and humanity first journeyed to the stars.

The aging Emporer and his daughter are attending a Navy award ceremony when disaster strikes, the Emporer is murdered by one of his most trusted admirals. But before he is able to complete his uprising the Princess escapes and boards the only ship left that is loyal to the Empire, the Eagle.

Follow the Eagle as it takes its final flight, a mission to deliver the Princess to one of the only remaining worlds where she will truly be safe.

The Project

This is going to be Sci Fi RPG based around the idea of a space ships final mission. You will play different members of the crew, each with their own style of gameplay, as the game takes the ship ever closer to its final goal.

This is a free game that is being built on the VX ACE engine.

The game will be based around multiple different battle systems that all use a similar backbone of an ATB engine. There will be 3 distinct types of combat. Actor based, Spaceship based, and Bridge based.

Actor and spaceships will use the same ATB engine and HUD, with the ship combat having a few extra features. A very early concept of the layout and HUD is in this video. All the graphics were done in paint to just test the layout and animations. >_>

The Bridge based combat will take place on the ships bridge. You take on the roll of the captain and you issue orders to your crew who will then perform actions, at its heart it will use the same ATB system as before but with a strategic feel to it as many of the actions will have a delay to them. For example to may order missiles to be fired but it will take several turns for them to actually hit their target and cause damage.

The game itself will use a fairly traditional style but in a sci fi setting, the combat i plan on using the layout from pokemon as a rough guide, with the player in the foreground and the enemies over their shoulder. For the maps I plan on doing parallax overlay but that may change. The Future

I am planning on this game to be around 2-3 hours long split into around 5-8 sections each with a different crew member as its lead. The game will have multiple paths and several endings.

Once this is finished I plan on building a much larger game set several years later. It will be a much more open world game using many of the concepts from this one.

As you can see from the video I am in dire need of graphics artists, although I also need help with other aspects too. I prefer the technical aspects so the artistic side is completely open to anyone who wants to put their style on it.

I love to test your game for you, it sounds interesting. I'm not a graphic artist at all but i can do small edits to sprites if you need. I could also help you map a little. I can help wherever you want me.

Im still looking for artists.

I have nearly finished all my main scripts, ive got the real time missile delay and recharge working as well as having combined parameters and HP bars to allow more than 1 actor to fly in a single space ship.  But all my test games look like a 2 year old made them using mspaint.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
