Tactical Challenge

Tactical Challenge (TC) is a tactical role playing game in early stage of development based on RPG Maker VX Ace. It's a big and unique project which needs a good team work! In short, it's going to be one of those games where you have to learn how to play for some time and then unable to stop playing it!

World

It is a fantasy mix of medieval and technology worlds. There are 8 hand painted towns in the game and many dungeons. All dungeons are planned to be explored automatically in accordance with player settings and choices. It's a new system for rpg world, so it will be explained better inside the team and in the game. 



Job System
 



There are 20 jobs classes in TC and 2 races. In additional to Humans there is Gremlins race. Humans are more popular so they have more classes. Each class has own stats and skills.

Human's classes:

Adventurer -> Savior/Destroyer/Summoner/Boomer

Fighter -> Savior/Destroyer/Superhero/Ricochet

NRG -> Summoner/Superhero/Protector/Dreamer

Tactic ->  Boomer/Ricochet/Protector/Dreamer

Gremlin's classes:

Elementalist -> Archmage/Sniper

Inventor -> Sniper/Pilot

Guardian -> Pilot/Sword Master

Rune Master -> Sword Master/Archmage

Basic classes





Battle System


Characters move on a battlefield composed of hexagonal tiles (grid). Action ranges are determined by the classes, weapons and skills, so there is a significent difference between melee and distant attacks.  

In contrast to most prgs (even strategic) there is no easy/fast way to recover HP, MP or stamina, it all recovers by regeneration. However, some skills and items can boost this regeneration. Skills more effective than 'default attack', but they have MP/Stamina cost and countdown. The idea is to make 'default attack' to be a 'reserve act', but not a main one.





Initially it was planned to develop TC for mobiles, so I made this UI. But the plan was changed, now the plan is to develop and to release it for PC, so UI for battle system will be changed accordingly. 


Story (Prologue)


The main character, Dean, is a manual worker. He does his best to help people he loves and he has a dream to become a treasure hunter. He works hard, but hardly can see the money. Even a simple equipment for adventure is expansive. Simple daily expenses take it all. Seems there is a fate to keep living like this till the end of life, no escape from the system, no a chance to make a dream come true. But he does believe he can do it, making extra work after the main work. Few months past. Buying  the simplest equipment he risks, and tempts fate going to Meathrest Mountains, the most popular place among treasure hunters...

 


Characters


It's planned to make 4 main characters and about 35 available characters in the game. It will be possible to recruit available characters in every town (4-5 per town), and then assign job classes to them. Those available characters don't play a role in the story, they are used in battles. So every player will be able to create a unique team.

Current Team:

Square_art: artist (spites, monsters, towns, etc), planner, author

Tsukihime: dungeon and battle system programmer

Positions:

1) Characters Artist

2) House Interier Artist (Mapper)

3) Logo and Menu Artist (Designer)

4) Scripter (someone who can create new scripts)

5) Story writer. I need someone who can tell the story using beautiful literary language

6) Promoter. Someone who is able to build an audience and describe the project properly

7) Music composer (maybe even 2 or 3. Currently there are no music in the project)

Please note. The project will be on kickstarter in few months. All reward funds will be shared between the team in accordance with work.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
