So I've been perusing the forums for some information on this, and while I've found some helpful stuff, I thought I'd come here for a suggestion (hoping this is the correct place to post this.)

I'm working on a game that I plan to deploy for both Mac OS and iPhone. I'm currently developing in a 1280 x 720 resolution using the Yanfly Core plugin, figuring this would be a good size for the Mac OS version. However, I'm concerned about how to translate the game to iOS when it comes to resolution. Would I need to literally redraw the maps to better fit the new resolution? I have lots of Show Picture and Text Alignment currently geared towards aesthetics in 1280 x 720...would I need to go back and re calculate each and every one of those to fit with the new iOS resolution?

Apologies if these questions are basic, I've never programmed something with resolution in mind before and it's sort of a new concept for me. What suggestions would you all have for multi-platform development, primarily in ways that make it a smoother transition between the two platforms and removing as many painstaking alterations as possible?

It is suggested to keep it in the 16:9 ratio for mobile. So if for some reason 1280 x 720 runs roughly you can step it down to 854 x 480.

Thank you for the reply!

I guess I'm a bit confused though. The video for Yanfly's Core Engine plugin suggests 1334 x 750, or 1920 x 1080 for iPhones. I'm not very well-versed in how screen resolution works...if I leave the game at 1280 x 720, won't that look strange on an iPhone? For instance, if I show a picture to display full screen for a 1280 x 720 resolution, won't it look odd when displayed on a 1334 x 750 res unless I go in and change the dimensions beforehand?

according to his chart 1280 x 720 is standard for an iphone, and that was an iphone 4 at that. He suggests you keep it in the 16:9 ratio as most mobile phones not just iphone and such also commonly use that ratio

Thanks so much for the help! Guess I'll stay in 1280 x 720 after all.

This issue is solved, thanks~

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
