So, I am making a Mini Rogue-like Game - A Tower climb with 10 Floors based on 15 x 15 Maps and functions on Auto-Battle system, You play as a Single Player but optional Character pick while starting the Game. I am a minimalist and I like to keep things very simple in my First Game, So I have only 3 Kinds of Skills for each Character planned for the entire game : 1 Active Skill, 1 Buff Skill and 1 Passive Skill. The Player obtains Skills through Skill Books on each Floor.

So I divided my Tower into 3 Regions -> Lower Floors (Floors 1, 2, 3), Middle Floors (Floors 4, 5, 6) & Upper Floors (Floors 7, 8, 9). Every 3rd Floor has a Mini Boss with Final Tower Boss in Floor 10.

In a 10 Floor Tower such as this where you buzz through each Floor in little under 1 - 2 Minutes, What Floor levels would you plan to add the above mentioned abilities ? Thanks in advance for your Input, it's really helpful to know different opinions from people ^^

I'd probably add them immediately. Because if it's a short game like this, it is pointless to really think about character development.

In my opinion, you should focus entirely in character development. When the game is mean to be short, plus with auto-battle, players don't really grasp where the gameplay are focused on. Mmmm, here's what I think :

You should divide each skill from low-tier, mid-tier, and high-tier.
Since the game is rogue-like, I'm thinking of a random low tier skill as a starter.
For every floor's beaten, the player get to choose one of three skills that the game randomly picked for you.
Its tier are depend on which floor's region you have conquered. (you may only learn low-tier skill in lower floors etc)

EX : I'm a mage with <Fireball 1> as a starting skill. After beating the first floor, the game prompt me to choose between <Fireball 2>, <Mana Regeneration 1>, or <Mana Shield 1>. As I choose <Fireball 2>, my <Fireball 1> is replaced by it.

'General Discussion' is not meant for feedback on individual specific games. That belongs in the forum 'Ideas and Prototypes'. Furthermore, this topic is more about Mechanics than general discussion which is about broader themes relating to the making of games.

Do you have enough to start a thread there? You can read the requirements here. If not, I can merge this with 'Ideas which don't deserve their own thread.'

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
