Remove Protagonist

Time for Garth to ask a question that probably has been answered before, but I just cant find it so HELP!!


My buddy wants me to make him a monster capturing game. We hashed out what he wanted and Ive started making it.  


How do I, similar to the Pokemon games, have the protagonist, main actor, not join the party for battles.  


We only want the captured monsters to fight and I just cant seem to figure it out. 


Do i Remove/add the actor? How would I do that for random encounters? Will the character ho back to the main position?


He wants the monsters to follow the party so i need the first marty member be the same actor and not be changed out.  


I am using Vanflys Party system to lock the first member 


I hope someone can help out, Im sure im not the first person to have this problem but I can find it anywhere else!

You ask too many and different things really.


First things first.


You can remove actors from the Database > System > Starting Party.


What you really need though is a full set of pokemon plugins.


Yanfly might have a set, Yami maybe,


but for sure this guy has some plugins:

P.S. : Read the Terms of Use before using any script of course, and be careful NOT to use ripped graphics or any kind of assets from pokemon games. This is considered and IS copyright infringement and you most likely have trouble with the law.


Also be careful not to use the word Pokemon since it is a registered trademark and you most likely have trouble with the law.


It makes no difference if it will be a fan game OR a free game or both. It is still illegal.


That is really another story, but since you wanna make such a game I thought you should know about that.

I know how to remove actors from the party, maybe I wasn't being clear.


All I want is to figure out how to take the main party member out of the battle.


If i could somehow make the battlers only the next 4 party members and not have the 1st party member battle


I am not making a Pokemon game I was just was using that as a reference.  (i.e ash doesnt fight but his pokemon do)

It surely IS possible overriding the original javascript code, but it needs some insight that I unfortunately don't have yet.

@MakerIf the plugins that you are looking at do not solve your problem, report your opening post and ask for this to be moved to Javascript/Plugin Support, as this cannot be done except by scripting.


Also, please do not quote whole posts just to indicate who you are answering.  It makes loading the page and scrolling down it slow, especially for those accessing this on their phone.  If you want to make it clear who you are replying to, simply use the @membername convention as I have done on the post.  It also has the advantage of letting the person know that you have replied to them, if they have that option turned on in their Notification settings.

 My bad. I meant that it needs a lot of time to get used to thw whole code of the engine, time I actually don't have at the moment. :)


But others already are used to it, so hopefully someone will help you out.

SumRndmDde's Pokemon Trainer Sprite is what I would use (from the site Dreadshadow linked above). It does something slightly different that what you described (there is no "trainer actor" in the party at all, only the "pokemons"), but maybe it's close enough to what you want. Otherwise let me know and I can write you a small plugin that excludes the first party member from the battle party.

@LadyBaskerville thank you. I just started using the Plugin from SumRndmDde it's working for me for now keeping the players stats as variables instead of using the built in resources

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
