Rename Character Bug

I cleared out the names of some characters in the database and was using the rename character in the events commands, but somehow when playing the game it remembers the name for some of the actors before I blanked them out.

For instance, I had a character named Moderator 2 as a place holder while I was setting the character up and then blanked out the name, however during play tests when I go to input a new name it still says Moderator 2 instead of empty spaces like some of the other characters I blanked out.  So far I haven't been able to track down any pattern to it.

Just posting it here in case anyone else has seen this behavior.

Most probably you have forgotten that you used it somewhere, or loaded an old savefile with the data.


However, blanking out names is a VERY bad decision for game development. While the engine works internally with the IDs and doesn't need the names, the EDITOR uses names to display data. If you have several blanked out actors, you will never be able to read which of those actors is currently the target of an event command.


Always keep names as placeholders. If you have to remove them, only do so after all bughunting is complete and the game finished and ready for deployment.

Savefile.

If you add a character to your party, their details are in your save files.  If you then change something about them in the database, sometimes that change is only reflected if you start a new game.  Because some Actor details are kept in the save file (pretty much anything you have the ability to change via event commands) and for others it refers back to the database settings.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
