RPG Maker Forums

So my project has a large (i mean LARGE) soundtrack of looping OGGs, which takes up more than 3 GB of space...I don't want my game to be that large LOL! So instead I've tried replacing all these looping OGGs with looping MIDIs instead, and that saved me a lot of file space (yay!). At first I was concerned about the quality of the midi music, because, let's be honest, midis sound horrible without good soundfonts. I found a workaround by using a combination of the MCI Audio Player script which bypasses RPGMaker's crappy default soundfont, CoolSoft's VirtualMidiSynth which allows you to replace Windows' crappy wavetable synth soundfont with a custom one, and the HQ orchestral soundfont. With this combo the music sounds great, if not better than the looping OGGs (in my opinion). However, it means that anyone who wants to play my game would have to install VirtualMidiSynth and this soundfont in order to get the full experience.

What do you guys think? Would having to download this software be a hassle for you? Would you play a game if it recommended/required you to download additional software? IMHO it's just like a RTP, but for my game, so it shouldn't be a dealbreaker...idk...just thinking lol

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
