Hello everybody,

as my project is set in an historical Asian setting (Feudal Japan & Ancient China) I already scrounged the forum for appropriate tile sets.

Although I found some great stuff (mostly by PandaMaru an com_sho) it still lacks the variety to create a whole game world. I wouldn't want each village to look the same.

So my request: Does anybody know more resources with that theme. I wouldn't even mind commercial DLC for MV… but I haven't found anything so far.

I am in the middle of map making now, therefore I would be especially glad for some hints towards MV-compatible bamboo plant / forest tiles.

Thank you and have a great day  :)

Cyanide has a sheet of Asian resources and Ogedei has a few tileset pieces, if you didn't run into those on here already. Bougainvillea has some mixed Asian stuff in their MV tiles, too.

I was working on a pesudo-feudal Japanese game and had to supplement those with Ace edits, but I started working before com_sho released their Asian tiles, so I'm not sure if having those will also cover your bases. I've heard very good things about the Ace Samurai DLC, though, and you can convert the resources with MVFU if all else fails. There's some free Ace material floating around, too, but most of it consists of Ace RTP edits, which means you'll also have to own a copy of Ace. The DS+ pack also has some useful tiles and characters in the Sengoku theme, but their style doesn't match any RTP.

Thank you very much for the hints!

I'll check those out for sure.

Also, I didn't know about the MVFU-thing, very useful, thanks again  :D

If you are still looking for resources, I also found some generator parts from EdwardT.

By the way, other resources than tiles, namely Generator parts or even finished Asia-themed character sprites would be highly welcomed!

@Quite.Toxick , please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

Also, you need to start a new topic in Resource Support for help with the resizing. Thanks!

If you rescaled 'em in photoshop, be sure to set the sampling to "Nearest Neighbour" or something along that lines to retain the pixel-y goodness.

Whops, I though as it was almost a day past, and something like an answer to my own post, and edit wouldn't make much sense.

I stand corrected, thank you.

I also moved my question to a new thread.

Thank you for the tip, that's what I did, thou.

Otherwise the sprite gets all blurry. But enough of that here. If you have further advice, I'd be glad to hear about it here:)

Back to topic: Any other Asia-themed resources out there?

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
