So, if anyone has played Pokemon BW/BW2 you may remember the gym leaders getting a little VS. slide in image. Here's an example for those who haven't played it. Pokemon Gym Battle Intro. I'm looking for something with hopefully a little more style to it, but it'd work like the Pokemon Gyms essentially. It'd be nice to have something like the Borderlands Boss Intros, but I understand that would be way harder to do with all the layers. I think the boiled down version of what I want is something that allows you to show an image, or multiples at the same time, with some sort of slide in effect or animation. It's basically taking this plugin (A Special Skill cut-in image) and putting it on the map, to be triggered by events.
This would be a pretty cool way to show the player "Hey! You're fighting someone/thing that's really important, you better not screw it up!" or just to add to the tension off a boss battle before you even get into it by showing just what you're up against.
Some more resources to look at for ideas of how it looks in other games...
Phoenix Wright Cross Examination- See the bottom right corner of the video where the top of the DS screen is.
Battleborn Boss Intros- Like the Borderlands ones, but a little simpler visually.
Fire Emblem Skill Cut-Ins- Once again, pretty simple like the Pokemon ones, but on the map instead of in the battle.
