Why will the engine only support a 816x624 resolution? Every game I own (except older of course) has support for 1920x1080, and now, most games come out of the box with 4K support. I don't want to have to make my own art. I'm not an artist. I would rather want to buy HD art to use that I would not have to resize or edit just to make it work. So how exactly will this work? Will it be easy to resize to full HD with JavaScript (without EULA violations/tampering/workarounds)? And if so, will there be full HD art available to buy? I truly hope Enterbrain will consider adding 1920x1080 support before release of this engine, and I would love to see 3D implementations of this engine in the future. Thanks as always for the assistance.

Not sure if this helps, but they are aiming for a system that exports better to tablet and phone, and not just desktop and laptop, hence, the resolution.

The change from 32 x 32 to 48 x 48 will allow for higher resolution images. The RTP will be crisper then what is in both VX and XP, and I do know of some material artists who are already working on material for this this (Jesse - PV Games, for example).

From what I'm reading on the page, there are NO "hidden" scripts like the current makers. Resolution, I would believe, falls in these scripts and should be able to be changed, though it might effect how it exports on certain devices.

What do you consider to be "HD art"?

@Shaffedog

Most of what you have asked is covered in the main thread, though I admit that because it is so long now it might be a bit difficult to track everything down (though 'Search this topic' in the search bar would probably bring most of this up).

But 3D?  Not in the foreseeable future.  The reasons for this have been discussed lots of times, but in essence boil down to the fact that RM could not compete against the already established 3D engines; it is a niche product which specialises in 2D and trying to be all things to all people would mean that it would lose its advantages in what it does do.

 I truly hope Enterbrain will consider adding 1920x1080 support before release of this engine
They have said what the resolution is going to be.  You can continue hoping, but it's not going to happen unless someone comes up with a suitable script after the engine is released.

The highest resolution I see anyone targeting is 1080p, yes phones and desktops have 4k displays, but do you really want to play a game at 4K on such a small device?...

It isn't even that hard to change the resolution in RPG Maker VX Ace, so long as the resolution you choose is less than 640x480. And that's mainly due to the module that handles resolution settings being hidden. The equivalent in RPG Maker MV won't be hidden at all, so it shouldn't be hard at all to change the resolution to whatever you want.

Still, I'm not 100% certain as to whether Enterbrain will provide resources for the resolution you desire. But if they won't, there may still be someone out there who will - not me, of course, I'm not an artist either, but there's no real shortage of artists here, at least as far as I know. So, don't be too worried.

EDIT: As for 3D, I'm not too certain that we'll ever see that, but I'm not too willing to say it's impossible either. If Enterbrain can figure out how to sell a 3D RPG Maker, they may lose their hesitation to make one. But it certainly won't happen until at least the next RPG Maker after MV.

The sad reaction was not because I want you to credit me. (terms clearly say no need to credit) but because those maps are meant to be used as inspiration or guidence. You are ofcourse alowed to use them however you want :)
