Resseting a chest

I use a random chest.

But I cant get it to reset itself after 10 seconds.

When my hero find a item, and gets back later the chest has to be closed again, after some time.

How can I do that in the event?

BTW, I cant copy the game code and paste it here. Is that normal?

Event code is not text, so no, you can't copy and paste from the event editor. We normally request people to take a screenshot (of the whole event window, showing tabs, conditions, options and triggers), load it to an image sharing site, then embed it in their post as an image.

If you're using a quick event chest, it opens (activates a new event page) by turning on a self switch. In order to reset the chest, you have to turn the self switch off. You would need to set a timer for 10 seconds, then at the end of the time, turn off the self switch. However, if you do this FROM the event, leaving that map would cancel the process.

You could check my Extended Timers script, which will let you set a timer at the moment the chest is opened, and it will then turn the self switch off 10 seconds later, no matter which map you're on. I'd give you a link, but I find it hard using the forums on mobile. Just search in the RGSS3 Scripts forum, or on the Master Script List.

I just bought RPG maker on steam the day before yesterday. I have no idea what to do with your script. Like my name say's, I am a noob ;)

You're going to love using this program. However and I'm sure Shaz would agree, it would be wise to go through some of the basic tutorials, especially on eventing. It will definitely pay off in the long haul and speed up your production even now. Best wishes and enjoy!

In that case, follow the link in my signature to the most important tutorials and infos about the program.

You can't learn the game engine from watching videos - it's not even possible to really learn it from reading tutorials (which usually contain more infos than videos).

You have to try and work with the program yourself to learn how it's really done, and that won't happen in only a few days.

In the case of this chest, simply post a screenshot of the resulting chest as it's in your game (all pages if that chest has multiple pages). That is a lot faster for us than watching a five-minute-video of something we already know how to do. Especially since there is always the possibility (especialy with complex video tutorials or bad descriptions) that you made a mistake and your resulting chest isn't exactly the same as in the video. Looking for a problem that only exists in your specific project by watching a general tutorial might not be successfull ;-)

Everything explained in the video is also working in my chest. Only it keeps open. I have added a page with a wait for 180 frames (3 secs for testing) and then put the self switch on off.

Now the chest does shut inmediatly and also I can inmediatly open the chest and get a new item.

Then you placed that wait in the wrong line/page.

Please show us screenshots of your event, otherwise we can't help you.

In tab 2 and 3 is no code, but is the chest picture one thats open

If there's no code on tabs 2 and 3, why do they even exist?


But for what you need to do to make this work:


-Change the trigger on page 4 to parallel process. (So it will run without the player interacting with it and still allow the player to move)


-Put the self switch off line at the bottom of page 4 instead of page 5.


-Delete page 5.


Rpg maker will only look at the code of the last page that meets the conditions. It's completely ignoring the wait because there is a page that meets the conditions after it.


Heads up if you use this method, the "timer" will restart when you leave the map and will only run when you are on the map.
