Yea, thats more what I meant. (should have worded it better).  Obviously, as mentioned, RPG Maker has all the advantages of the editor and mapping system, 'easy databasing' and such like.. Which none of those libraries have; however, there are projects out there which help bring RPG Maker made games into such environments (Gosu/StarRuby) - So one could quite easily make their stuff in RPG Maker, then 'port' their game into Gosu and thats that... (somewhat pointless really though) 

And yea.. I dont even know how many times I've been kicking myself over some 'hidden' method and not knowing its logic. (Input module mainly) And subsequently, have had to write my own versions of full scripts just to use a PrtScrn key to take a screenshot...

Why would it be pointless?

Cause the majority of games use RTP graphics / Graphics they cant use outwith RPG Maker, and using a thing such as Gosu would mean those are not able to be used. :)

There is no way Enterbrain would want RM to be Open source.

I do agree a lot with Gems though. Always wanted to have a custom UI add-on to RM default.
Really? Because when you look at the Japanese site and their updates on their tweets and posts they're considering that.

Yeah, because it opens more doors to advanced users without affecting the not so advanced users in any negative way...

That's a new thing but its probably because they need to go mobile, and if you want to go mobile, there is a chance your stuff has to be open source due to how multiplatforming works. Still a speculation.

Well if you check their Japanese twitter, they are considering it and has been doing some tests on surface pro and had been asking for help on some advice -- even bringing up the map editor layers. My japanese is too weak to give a better translation right now.

Anyway, back on topic.  Was just having a conversation with a friend on steam and I realized something that ~ the next iteration of RPG Maker should most definitely have.  Not necessary rgss, but yea...

Ready - here it is:

A small box in the database that allows you to change the hexadecimal key thing that is used when performing the encryption process. Rather than always using the current hex code that has been hacked and publicly available for near on decades. :p

RGSS3 already fixed that. Well, not really fixed, but rather changed. Your idea has one issue: not only the key (used by RGSS1 and 2) is known, the algorithm and how to obtain the key is too. Plus there is an unofficial tool (bg vgvgf) that is able to do this.

Well yea, in reality the whole algorithm would be altered, with a few key variables that could slightly alter how information is encrypted.

Hell, I've even seen a ruby script that can decrypt an rpg maker encrypted archive.
