What are viewports and how can I make use of them while creating custom menus ?

A viewport is basically just setting aside a defined region of the screen where you're saying "Okay scripts, you can draw stuff on this."

The battle scene, for example, has a viewport for the main battle graphics, a viewport for the command windows, and a viewport for weather effects and the like. Essentially it's defining drawable areas that can't interfere with each other: the area of the main battle graphic viewport means it's impossible for the background to overlap the commands, no matter what coordinate you try to draw them at.

Recently got RPG Maker MZ. A bit slower with my current PC but I will be getting a new one soon.

It would seem learning JS is not a know it all for making plugins. While it has enabled me to understand what I'm looking at, I still have to find the relevant information in the core scripts. This is much harder than learning JS IMO.
