When will they announce it? Unlimited tilesets maybe?! Any chance of release/announcements?!?

Probably at the time Windows 10 is out for a few years. I was expecting a "RPG Maker EX" or something like that when 8.1 was out.

Lol, i've been really wondering if they will make the battle system sideview for a normal one :3 (remember teh old RM's? Yep, i was reffering to them). And they will add a kaduki sprites generator, so i can just generate kaduki sprites and put them in my game xD and 10 years later with very very advanced technology, RPG Maker is going to be very easy to use xD

If we are lucky maybe it will be a 3d RPG maker :D

I like reading these topics.

Is it because i know things you don't? Is it because we're taking down ideas from the conversation? Is it because I like taunting everyone by making posts like these?

The world may never know.

:< sigh....i dont really want a 3d RPG maker....i like making 2d sprites for people to use, and im just now getting "decently ok" at it...

but now...say, if that engine had the "OPTION" of either useing 2d art, AND 3d art for those who are skilled enough, and have the equipment to make it (as in, having the option to use 2d art in the same way as you do in engines like XP and Ace), and was more powerful in some way, and had new features, along with the present features....i think THAT would rock!!

The more features something have, the more complicated it becomes. For example, Unity and Unreal have 2d Features, but because of the 3d nature, the entire interface changes a lot to support the 3d Camera.

Unreal also have blueprinting which is pretty sweet, but it doesn't make it less unwieldy for 2D users since half of the 3d features you wouldn't even need. It won't make it awesome, it'll just make it over-convoluted and add an identity crisis to the program. If you want 3d, go with the 3d program. If you can't use the 3d program, that says something about how you should rethink your goals for your game.

As long as they improve RGSS4's library and coding patters for easier to understand API language I am going to be fine with it. Actually, just a multi-platform RPG Maker VX Ace in the near future is fine with me.

I still kinda want a 3D RPG Maker with a really robust character generator. Not like the one in Ace (even though I love it). Think of character creation in some WRPGs and MMOs, the ones with tons of options (like complicated facial details). Use that to design your characters and NPCs. (oh, there'd be tons of problems like clipping issues, but that happens all the time in 3D games anyway) Maybe some monster builder too. That allows you to change size of parts and move them from one enemy to another (put dragon wings on a wolf, but make them "wolf-sized!")

It would be harder to add new outfits, monster parts, etc. but it would be so different. More different than XP and Ace, and people still use both, right?

What you are asking for is a character generator, not a game engine or an RPG Maker.

For those who crave a 3D look, the High Fantasy 2 resource pack and all of its tiles and characters were built using 3D models.

The result is the characters have a distinctive, much darker look to them, so if you use any of the HF2 resource pack, you MUST use only those graphic resources to build your RPG.

I'm not in favor of a 3D RPG Maker since it would make the game development much more difficult.  I think Sharm or another professional artist once said there is a LOT of extensive work AND quite a few different skillsets you MUST have to create good 3D models.

Personally, I would love to see isometric tile and resource support.  A lot of the more modern 2D RPGs such as Dragon Quest IX use this to great effect to simulate a 3D world.  It looks a lot more natural than the kind-of-overhead view (which can NEVER exist in real life) we have in classic RPG Maker.  With isometric tile support, it becomes possible to think of taking a picture of a building and scanning it right into your game, because an isometric view DOES exist in real life.

I like those possibilities a lot more than a pure 3D RPG Maker.  And technically it wouldn't be that hard to add.

There's a huge problem with that.

The reason scripters LOVE the default battle system of VX and ACE is because it's so simple. It's very easy to edit and change it to your liking with very basic RGSS knowledge. All you need to do to make a side view out of it is to just add the characters on the field.

Now say they did have a scriptable RM Maker with a sideview as the default. If you want a battle system like VX, you would have to REMOVE the battlers, which is more frustrating that just adding them. Or if you want a different type of sideview, you'd have to remove the current one, then add your own.

Catch my drift?

If we are lucky maybe it will be a 3d RPG maker :D
God no, I'm taking a 3D modeling course right now and getting what you want is not as easy as it sounds. RM is known for a balance power/simple ratio, let's not ruin that.

Well, I don't really want a 3d engine, I'm fine with the 2d really.

They can of course update the scripting language  and generator departments.

The battle system could get some improvements, I don't mind the front-view wich I like to an extent, but some minor improvements can't  hurt that bad(I think).

Can you model in 3D? Do you have knowledge in GL Shaders? Do you know how to code in Raycasting?

Do you know how to render the 3D model?

Do you know how to to create your own materials for the 3D object?

Do you know how many polygons the character should have to be rendered correctly?

Do you have any knowledge in Rigging?

Do you have any knowledge in 3D Animation?

Do you understand Layering and Terrains?

Can you create your own foliage, trees, shaders, water assets, etc?

If you have none of these then you better shut up.

Not everyone can do that. Not everyone can code as not everyone can create their own 3D asset, even if there's a 3D asset store if ever RPG maker creates one, someone wants a custom made game and its easier and possible in 2D object rather than buying the same thing and generic as seen in asset stores. Granted you can create these, not everyone can.

To be able to make RPG Maker in 3D, developers have to think you have a knowledge in 3D Modeling, Development, Coding and Design.

Not to mention all math required for 3D programming, just because you add 1 dimension to 2D does not mean 3D programming 50% more complex... more like 500%

I see the improvement RGSS 4 from RGSS 3 the same as RGSS 3 was to RGSS 2, more efficient codding that's bound to crash much less. Remember those 'Stack level too deep' errors?

Yep. 3D configurations aside:

- Physics Engine

- Damage Calculation

- Water Perfect Flow Math

- Bullet Trajectory

- Scatter Mathematics

- Math AI for Pathfinding

- Sprite Quaternion

- 3D Model Quaternion

and many more. Actually, to be frank, most people who says "RPG Maker 3D should be a thing" are those who don't even have a singleton knowledge of how 3D even works. Just because they saw it somewhere from Unity and somehow for them it looks cool, they want to see it in the engine they are using now. It defeats the purpose of RPG Maker as an easy to understand tool and easy to use tool.

If you want an RPG Maker in 3D, then you should start using Unity or UniRPG, and GOOD LUCK implementing all those I've mentioned. I am sure there are more things, but idk what those are yet.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
