A few years back, a friend of mine who is also a game developer had a wild idea of characters from an RPG being in a rock band, and actually having gameplay in the game much similar to (if not the same as) Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and though I never thought too much about it, it made me wonder if anyone had ever tried to implement such gameplay sub-mechanics.


I've played Rock Band, Guitar Hero and the PC adaptation of these engines by the name of Frets on Fire (not extensively but enough), and wonder if such sub-mechanics would be even remotely possible within an already complex game such as an RPG...


Any thoughts?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
