RPG Maker Forums

Hi guys!

I miss the San0x autotile creator, don't you? take two tiles, upload them, and BAM! out pops an autotile you can use - A great overall script.

While I can't script it, I found a way to do it with Photoshop... I introduce to you MY...

RPG Maker MV AutoTile Maker - Design 01
(UPDATED 2:28 PM Central Time, 12/2/17)

Now, here's how it works, and it's not completely user-intuitive YET...

1. First, you do have to have 2 distinct 48x48 seamless tiles, one which will be the background or outer layer, and one which will be the inner layer.

As you can see each tile will go into the two layers at the top, labeled 'Foreground' and 'Background' - Double click on either of those two layers, and you'll have a new file called an .psb - Put your tile in there and then save that PSB! Go back to your main RMMVAutoTileMaker01.psd, and then do the same for the other of the two layers.

Once done, you can save your file as a PNG... Once you have the PNG, just go back and cut and paste those three main items into your tileset... like so.

Then just add that autotile to one of your autotile sheets and BAM! A new cool autotile in seconds! As you can see from my test setup, everything went fine, no bad lines, no fudged corners, plenty of weird angles and overlaps to kill the blockiness...

Once you've made the autotile, you can even save your background and foreground tiles to your A5!

Test it out yourself, if you have Adobe Photoshop CS6 or greater, you should be able to use this tool. Here's the zip file for you to download for free. I'd LIKE to be mentioned in your credits if you do that sort of thing, but you can use this autotile maker in any project, commercial or free!

STYLE 2: Shaded AND Faded
I went a step further, and decided to create a more blended autotile this time, and added a background to the base sprite for the ability to create translucent autotiles, perfect for shallow water and such... As with the first tileset, I'd LIKE to be mentioned in your credits if you do credits, and you can use this autotile maker in any project, commercial or free...

I will be making a few more, and if you feel like donating to my work, you can at http://paypal.me/JayRay

(Edit: I WILL be going back over this tilework, as I've noticed the tiniest little areas where the tiles do NOT blend right. I'm kinda picky about that....)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
