[RMMV] Need help setting up a Characters skills

Hello friends! New user here, and I'm currently using RPG Maker MV!

I've been working on my game today, and I started developing my one characters skills. She uses Light Spells, which cost no MP and Dark Spells which consumes MP.

I'm running into a few issues with getting her kit to work. So I'll leave a list here and see if someone can help me out here, I'm trying not to use a Plugin for this, but if I have to I'll look for someone to make one.

So the character is capped at 100MP, but when she goes into a battle I'd like her to always start at 0MP and have to use a Light Skill to generate MP. I can make her absorb MP from an enemy, but that's not what I want. I want her to use the Light Skill, deal her damage and then get 15MP.

I feel like this is something simple and I'm just being dumb, but I'd really appreciate if someone can help me out with this!

You could have an event run at the start of each battle setting her MP back to 0. I'd just set it up as a common event, then create an event page for each troop that runs at Turn 0 + 0 to call the common event.


The downside MAY be that the previous MP might show up briefly as the battle begins. If that's the case, you'll probably have to use a plugin.


Are your battles all evented, or do you have random battles? If they're evented, you could put the call to the common event immediately before the battle processing call.

You really should use plugins for this. There's no reason not to; MV is written entirely in JavaScript, and plugins are merely an extension/modification of the code base.

Yanfly's Base Troop Events (http://yanfly.moe/2015/10/18/yep-15-base-troop-events/) would easily allow you to reset that actor's MP to zero at the start of battle.

In terms of refunding 15 MP upon skill use, you can use the damage formula box. Alternatively, you could use Yanfly's Skill Core plugin (http://yanfly.moe/2015/10/13/yep-8-skill-core/) to set the conditions with which the MP wound be refunded. Example video that shows MP being refunded when certain conditions are met:

Thanks Kenen! This did what I was asking for, and making her use TP is better then using MP. Except I'm having issues getting her to generate the same amount of TP with the attacks, and not from getting damaged.

JK. I figured it out, I am way too tired for this lol.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
