Hello all! I've been getting back into RPG Maker since the IGMC opened.

I'm trying to have a brief cutscene be my opening for the game. As soon as you'd select "New Game" it would start with a scene of the main character fighting what will be the end boss. There's dialogue and it ends on a cliffhanger to begin the actual game.

What I want to happen is the character sprites are just running about on screen as if they're locked in a sword fight. Each time the sprites touch, there's a sword SE and animation.

I can't figure this out in events. I can only get the secondary sprite to follow the character and infinite loop on the SE.

Any help would be appreciated!

First thing first if you didn't know this already: a cutscene should be handled by only one event.

Next, two things to know about the 'set movement route' event command:
Naamloos.png
  • This command can be used to move any event on the map, not just the player.
  • By unchecking the 'Wait for Completion' box, the event that handles the cutscene will not wait for the event/player to finish the movement.

With these two things in mind, you can already make two events move independently from each other at the same time.

As for Sound Effects and animations, keep in mind that you can use the 'wait' event command to time these. Also, Sound Effects can be incorporated into the movement route.

Thanks for the help! It didn't occur to me that I'd have to choreograph the sequence.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
