Hello,

I am having an issue with the game not recognizing a player level. In the beginning of the game, you are able to select from a large number of actor choices. For some reason, when the male or female warrior is selected the game ignores the starting level and allows him to bypass any level restrictions. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this. See the pictures below:

Inn example: It works for every actor choice (004-0011) except the male/female warrior. It goes the player level >5 despite the male warrior actor only being level 1.

Edit: **I did notice that when I saved the game it showed the warrior as level 9, despite the in game menu showing level 1. I have no idea where this could be set.**

Any one have any ideas?

Thanks

Your event is setting the variable Player Level to the actor ID # of Whichever character is in the first member. Since He is actor ID #8 he will always read as not fulfilling the less than or equal to condition.

It would have been easier if you had just made one actor for the main character and just changed their class and actor graphics according to the class selected, then set the variable player level equal to the actors level.

I'm not sure how you can do this otherwise under your current circumstances without a bunch of conditional branches or possibly some sort of code.

+1 to the single actor and use event commands to customize them based on player selections.  This will also make it a whole lot easier for showing messages and things (no 15 conditional branches to determine which face to show).

I suggest you start over with your actors and do what Vox Novus says.  Look for the More Escape Codes plugin that comes with MV (in the folder with my name) - this will let you put the id of the actor in your message box and will show whatever face is currently assigned to them.

@SlowMN...

The basic error is thinking that your Variable 'Player Level' is picking up the Level of the Actor, when in fact it's reading the ID of the Actor. The Male Warrior has an ID of '8', the Female Warrior an ID of '9'. That's the confusion. You can affect the Actor Level to a Variable with Game Data - Actor.

The suggestions above will give much greater flexibility than this, however.

Hope this helps.

Ok thank you for the suggestion. I will switch it right and let you know if it fixes the problem!

**Edit** So I have been able to get it to go through the intro by switching the classes of a single actor; however, how do I get the player image to change? For example, if the player chooses female, the image in the center of the game should change to female, if the player chooses female hunter, the image should go to the female hunter.

Just use the change actor images command to change the main actor to a female appearance. From the looks of it you used the command but changed the image of a different actor, a "Female" named one.

You only need one actor here (The starting actor), you can even start with the player transparent and then show the player after they've made the gender and/or class choices.

Perfect! For some reason I didn't notice the change actor image was selecting a different actor. Once I switched it to start (name of the actor that is changed by player choices) everything appeared. Below I posted screenshots of exactly how it is set up in case someone else runs into this problem. They can see how it is written so it works correctly. Thank you for the help!

This problem has been solved.
