Hey everyone! I'm just here for a quick request.

If anyone's ever played Pokemon you'd know the ability Quick Attack or Extreme Speed. Pretty much what that is, it's an attack that always attacks first based on the speed of a pokemon. So my question is, how can I create a skill like that? One that always attacks first at the start of the battle phase? I've been searching around but haven't found any answers yet. Thanks :p

On the Skill page, in the "Invocation" section, there's a "Speed" value. Just set that to a very high value.

How would this be pulled off? I've tried raising and lowering the Speed value. I had the impression that the higher the number, the longer the attack would take before it was used.

I've tried increasing and decreasing the value but when I test fights the Actor who should attack first, no matter what, appears to attack last or close to last ;-;

The action order depends on three parts that are added together, and speed is only one of them.

For each action, the game adds together the actor/enemy agility plus the speed of the action/skill plus a random number (that random number depends on the sum of agility and speed).

After that, actions are executed from highest result to lowest.

Both agility and speed are only used in that matter, nowhere else in the engine. And if your speed values are much lower than the agility values, then they won't affect action order much.

Oh, alright... So the main questions still stands... how to make a fast skill. Do I have to also put something in the Formula box as well on top of raising or lowering the Invocation Speed?

A fast skill like you want needs a speed number that is much higher than any agility of any actor or enemy.

If you have multiple fast skills and want to order them, then you'll need multiple times the highest AGI depending on when which skill should be executed.

And the formula box is only accessed AFTER the skill hits, which means it cannot affect any part of the skills execution.

Alright, that makes sense. I have a lot of Actors and Enemies in this game so I thought that the best way to approach this was to set the Invocation Speed to the max and that seems to work. Nice! Thanks :D  is there anything else that you'd suggest?

Just make the skill's speed a bunch of 9's. That'll make it faster than everything else no matter what. :p

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
