Who are you? Why are you here? Why are you fighting? What is the purpose of this?

RNG is the working title of a small, experimental RPG. This is my fifth game in total. I developed this game with the almighty power of randomized gameplay in mind.

Summary

After stumbling across a cave, you are thrown into a perpetual array of mazes you must fight through, collecting loot and defeating enemies, until you eventually reach the final boss.

Features

- Randomized gameplay: All chests contain randomized loot and skills to learn and utilize.

- Over 200+ weapons/armours to obtain, each with their own personalized effects.

- Dozens of maps and caves to explore.

- Challenging and difficult, but streamlined gameplay.

Nice. ^^ I suppose this is the kind of a game that's just for gameplay with no story? Although the idea if new, I think, I am not sure if it would give much motivation for the player to continue. You see, most players like to aim for a goal. Games with stories give them that goal. You don't work hard to reach the final boss and defeat him for the heck of it as much as you play to see how th story will unfold after that, what the characters will do, whether the hero's town survives the battle or not, and so on. :D

So yup, that's my only point. If you want people to keep playing your game, you should give them something to keep them going. Unless, of course, the gameplay is really fun that it's just enough on its own. :D

Good luck. ^^

I know. I didn't work on the overall story much, it's merely my own rendition of a dungeon crawler-styled game. I do, however, want to add something along the lines of an unexplained and vague story as much as I could so the player could piece the story together. One example I enjoy is Dark Souls, in that it doesn't spoon-feed the plotline to the player, and that the player should figure it out on their own while progressing through gameplay, using little hints in the form of item, weapon, or armour details.

All in all, thank you for your input. Yes, I understand that a good plot is what motivates the player to keep playing, but I want the experience to be as enigmatic and mysterious as possible.

I see. In that case, that's a motivation on its own. To have a story that's vague and mysterious could have the player wanting to play more actually to unfold it. :D

I just got the impression from the topic that there's no story at all and the game is just based on fun gameplay but I apologize, I may have judged wrongly. ^^

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
