I hope there will be an Android version too, I would like to toy with it on my mobile phone while travelling. Why always the Apple users have the cool things before us?

Anyway who cares about custom plugins/scripts? In 2k3 back then you could create pretty much anything with hardcore eventing, that's not really a problem to me. What really bothers me is the Undo Button being not easily accessible and the tilesets being in the middle of the screen (wtf?), also you can select only one tile per time? I couldn't figure it out how to do a multiple selection, so if someone knows pls englighten me.

My gf has it on her "Apple device" so I was able to test it for a bit and mapping wasn't quite enjoyable because of these problems.

Still I like what it is, it's simple but also fun to have a sort of Rpg Maker on a mobile device.

I hope it will be available for Android, expanded with more features, and that we will be able to use rm resource packs for it.

Mobile games are not bad btw, if you play garbage like Candy Crash Saga of course you have the impression that they suck, check stuff like this (yes, it's a mobile game).

Does the premium version get rid of the ads too I'm hoping? I didn't notice mention of this anywhere yet. I'm tinkering with the free version this week before I commit to a purchase. ?

Like Dalph mentioned, the layout kinda sucks.  This game was made years ago and sold only in the Japanese App store.  I'm afraid that there will be no updates to clean up the menu layout.  This is the perfect type of game for an iPad.  I have an iPad Pro and using the Apple pencil makes it more enjoyable.  I'm hoping future updates take more advantage of Apple hardware features.

Two questions: One, can this be purchased and used even if not done on an iOS (i.e. - using it via a PC/MAC iOS emulator, provided it was purchased legitimately otherwise)

Also, what's difference between free and premium in terms of features?

In my honest opinion, mobile devices are not meant for games. These devices have only casual gamers. See Candy Crush and other terrible apps with very few exceptions.

Designing for a touch screen device can be very challenging. Fingers on a touch screen cover a large area and are very imprecise, and they physically block the screen that displays the game. Developing a control scheme that works well with touch screens is pretty tough. Small smart phones are exceptionally challenging in that regard. That said, I think good games are possible. Knights of Pen and Paper, Hearthstone, Monument Valley, I think are successful on a mobile device.

I think the real challenge is the business model that's often imposed on them. Used to be that most games were designed to simply be sold, and developers relied on sequels, expansions, or designing new games to continue their income. When mobile games came along, that changed.

In many mobile games, they have opted to try to stretch out games as long as possible, trying to monetize throughout the lifetime of the game. This has lead to grinds, microtransactions, alternative currencies, timers, etc. I'm not a very big fan of this model of developing games, as it sticks the business model into the design of the game itself (makes me feel like I'm gambling, not playing a video game), and really drags the game along longer than necessary (oh, c'mon, does it really have to take months to get anywhere?).

A stereotypical "this is how you design mobile games" box was created, and it's very frustrating that very, very few mobile game designers are willing to think outside of that box.

I tried it out a bit on my iPad Air and must say while it may be a great intro for newbies to RPG making, it is not for serious game design. The PC vers Ace and MV are much, much better mainly because they work with keyboard and mouse. Using just touch is simply too inefficient and time consuming. Perhaps if I had an iPad pro it might be better. Also RPG Creator doesn't seem to offer any features that MV can't do. Imho I think you guys should get more PC based engines or put money into creating more resource packs rather than something like this, which may have a limited market.

Here's the thing, I appreciated the efforts to translate this game but it was originally created in early 2014.  It is and will be a barebones version of the PC version.  This game is not optimized for iPad usage.  Luckily the Apple pencil works and that makes a big difference when you need to precisely piece together objects.  However, even after reading the pdf or included help file, most of it makes no sense.  Sure I can import files but It states I have to do so via dropbox or email?  Ok...and what are the exact limitations and how do I email it to myself?  Where is the sprite creation feature?  I have such a limited amount of Map and object sprites to choose from as well.

At this point, frustration is beginning to kick in.  I want to really like this game but it's so watered down that I feel like it just a marketing tool to get folks to buy RPG MV.

Ah interesting i just realized it's the RTP from Refmap it's nice to see that in use again since very few rpg maker games use it these days. Though this can be very useful for producing ideas. (Though i do wonder about the terms of use.)

If we own two devices using the same iTunes account - ie, I have an iPad and an iPhone - if we buy the full version can we unlock it on both devices without any issues?  Or should I just pick one to avoid problems?

Yeah, well $8 is pretty good for a design app that lets you create and distribute 16-bit style RPGs, especially as the PC versions are around 8  to 10 times the cost for the latest versions.

There was a 2-3 hour learning curve but I was able to put together a game on my iPad Pro. I uploaded it via the creators web. Check it out for an idea of what can be done with just a few hours of practice.

I would also like to see this for Android, but haven't seen any official answer if there are even plans to make one.  I know they're completely different languages, so in effect the developer would need to create a completely different second program in a completely different language.

I think the original developer abandoned it so lots of luck finding someone to port over to Android.

I'll never understand why apps gets released for iPhones first. More people have Android phones.

More people drive old beat up cars vs luxury ones.  It doesn't mean more people like beat up cars.

The thing with console/mobile versions is, that besides making some silly/joke games just for friends/fun, there's really no point in working on them, as they are even more limited than the PC versions.

If it comes to make mobile-games, then personally I'd prefer making them on PC and deploying to these devices.

Though still, young/beginner developers will find these fun to work with. (=

It looks nice I must admit.
