RPG Maker 2003 - Now Available

Ooooh, I must own it!  Yay!  It's so exciting to have this available legally for real!

Hmm, favorite RTP character from any maker.  Does Mark count?  He's from the PS1 RPG Maker.  He was this cute little shadow guy who was really just a hole and followed Gobli on his quest all Wizard of Oz style. 

If Mark doesn't count I think it might be Eric. I love the juxtaposition of his goofy grin and almost villainous looking armor.  He just looks like he's so happy to be battling bad guys.

While it is indeed charming to win a free copy of the software, I think I will buy it for two reasons:

1. Someone who has no money at all will have a bigger chance to get a free version of the software.

2. I want to support the community by paying for their work.

Which one of the RTP characters is your favorite and why?

Gotta be the Ralph (I think that was what his name was...) character from VX//VXA, as he's the first hero I created when I was going through the tutorials for Ace.

Incidentally, this is the first screenshot of a game I'm working on, but Ralph will not be the main character haha.

With that being said, I can't exclude Alex either, as that RTP character was the first one I experience in RPG Maker 15 years ago.

Aaaah logged in and saw this announcement... I was just like YES YES YES!!!

Loved the huge amount of monsters it had available - crocodiles to dragons to mythological monsters and everything in between, nice catchy music (As the whole series has~) and more. So glad to be able to buy an official version finally!

Looks good. Now let's move forward to the future please (aka next RPG Maker)!

Which one of the RTP characters is your favorite and why?

Not an easy question since I only know them by picture but I guess Ralph. He is so bad, cliche and stupid character that I can't help to laugh every time I see his 'serious' portrait. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone xD

My favorite has to be 'Ernest' the Magic Swordsman <3

Lancer 02 and Gunner 01 from RMXP were also big favs of mine!  And the Dragon "Airship" from 2k3 ;P

*Wonder what it does to the legal status of older games that use rips (Forever's End, for example) if imported into the maker. *mulls over things* I don't know if i'd call her my favorite, but I have a special place in my heart for the little blue-haired girl from the 2k3 rtp due to her use as the heroine of Legend of the Sacred Fish, a game usually rated quite awful, but one of the first I played, and one of the first games I'd run into that had an LGBT protagonist.  The pink witAnd do you remember the catboys from the Crowjn of the Bride? I bet there are others

Let me rephrase— is this going to trigger a new crackdown on preexisting illegal games or force them out of existence? Both Forever's End and Legend of the Philosopher's Stone  (Amazing games I might add) were created when the rules were more lax. Does that mean that, for example, RMN can no longer host them for fear of legal action?

As long as RMN isn't distributing an illegal copy of 2k3 for download, we don't have any reason to do any legal action against them.

Wow! RM2k3. Some very old, OLD, memories have come flooding back. This was the very first RPG Maker I ever used. I have no real plans to use it, but I've bought it for the sake of nostalgia.
