I’m really thrilled about this release! I imported a boxed copy of RPG Maker 2003 back before even XP came out and had been using it for years. Having a completely legal English copy available makes for some very happy nostalgia!

As for the contest, my favorite RPG Maker RTP character was and probably still is 2000 / 2003's Alisa. She looks like she could just be an average girl who lives down the street, but could also find herself involved in something extraordinary and grow to become a hero too!

Manque plus qu'une traduction française ^_^  (ouin nous sommes les grands oubliés T_T)

Je sais que des amateurs avaient fait une traduction non officiel il y a des années mais une version officiel serait super cool.

Mais bravo pour l'initiative.

In english :

Missing a French translation ^ _ ^ ( wah we are the forgotten T_T )

I know that fans had made an unofficial translation some years ago but an official version would be cool.

But bravo for the initiative.

Edit :  Oups i forgot to say what is my favorite RTP charas (even if i have more chance to be touch by the thunder twice in one row than win something x-D)

So my fav is Brian from RM 2000

Why because "Where is Brian ? --- Brian is in the kitchen" yeah i know lame joke if you are not french (and don't know the ref)

OUF! Merci! I am prone to panic. But I am happy it might had helped out at least to see trough some of the Dev/Steam informations.

Also...

@eternien

Je pourrais te le traduire... enfin à toute la communauté Francophone et Francophile. Dès que j'aurai une copie légale de cette version j'imagine. ;)

English;

Just typed Eternian that I could translate it for all the French-speaking and all French-loving community providing/as soon as I have a legit version of RPGMaker 2003. ;)

I'm glad this finally got to happen, I was looking forward to getting an official RPG Maker 2003 translation ever since this topic caused a petition to launch (even though it was not really successful).
However, it would not be a bad idea to do the same with its predecessor, because most of us got first involved with RPG Maker starting with RPG Maker 2000. I got RPG Maker 2003 as a gift. But I would not hesitate and would instantly throw my cash at you if an official RPG Maker 2000/2000 Value, and maybe even RPG Maker 95 (oldies but goodies~) came out.

I think releasing RPG Maker 2003 was an excellent move, but it was years late.

OLD SCHOOL FTW!

Shin Kitsune, red and blue text are for moderators only. I've removed the color and replaced it with italics.

Question!

RPG Maker 2003's executable has several resources other than icons. I remember reading that for XP/VX/Ace, it is permitted to change the executable icon. So, does that count to RPG Maker 2003? And can we change the other graphical resources inside the executable? Glyphs and splash screens.

There will be an additional patch EULA published shortly that will tell everyone what is allowed and what not.

And no, I don't know it myself, we all have to wait until it gets through all the legal loops and hoops at Degica and Enterbrain

Check the EULA - the process for commercial use is a little bit different compared to Ace, but yes it is possible if you own the editor legally and didn't use rips (and if you convert the project to the legal editor)

What's with the increase of people wanting to sell thier games, recently? XD'

I mean, it's always nice that that's an option, especially if there is a lot of (custom) work put into a project. And it's not like this is a new thing either, but still. There seem to be way more people working on their games with the intention of selling them these days.

That said, some games would definately be well worth the extra bit of reward in form of payment. I just hope that with the addition of the rm2k3 to the official english release, this number won't continue to increase even higher and that there will still be those who want to make great geams simply for others to enjoy ^^

In case  you will buy it:

If you used only the RTP resources YES!

If your resources are ALL legal then YES!

If you use unlicensed stuff or rips, then NO.

:D I just realised the link on the EULA where it says:

1.1. For non-commercial use, registration is complete with the legal purchase of SOFTWARE via our website(http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/) or one of our known distributors. Please keep a copy of your invoice, order number or proof of purchase for support purposes.
The link actually leads to

http://www.(http.com//www.rpgmakerweb.com/)Which is not www.rpgmakerweb.com

xD

Edit: Also, how do you do said 'Registration'?

I'm so happy that RPG Maker is now being released in English legally!

When I first read the email, my eyes and mouth widened so much I thought the rest of my face was going to fall into them.

I'm patiently waiting for the non-Steam version to be available for purchase and I keep checking back every night.

I know I wouldn't be in the running for the giveaway, but I kinda wanted to state which RTP character was my favorite.

I'm not sure if RPG Maker 3 counts, but here we go. Most of the sprites from it were cool/cute and I used the heck out of them, but my favorite was one of the outlaw characters-- the one with their tongue out and you couldn't really see their eyes.

I made a little game with RPG Maker 3 which was pretty serious in tone, but there was this one NPC which I used that outlaw sprite for. The NPC would stand next to a certain save spot. The outlaw sprite named Savon would pop up, and a really cheerful tune would play as the NPC said, "Saving games is fun!~"

My brother and I could not get over this for some reason, and so sometimes when we save a game-- any game-- we can't help but say, "Saving games is fun"! This is especially the case when we haven't been able to save in a game for a long time. We don't get to play games together much anymore though.

Ah time, you really are the ruler of everything.

Just relax. They are slowly going through and making sure that their choices are absolutely right. It takes a few days to be sure the correct winners are chosen.

So i bought the soft monday night and i read a thing about rip of games for commercial games but i'm wondering

it is ok for non commercial games to use it ? (with putting the sources in the crédits)

If not, edit of a rip (monster for the exemple with change of some détails) are tolerated ?

This is just to know things that i can use in the soft and because there really is not much original resources for now (or so I do not know where to look xD)

No - any rip is illegal, no matter if it is edited or not, if it's used commercially or not.

The only differences are how high is the chance of being sued and for how much of a fine (both are higher for commercial use, but even the lower fines can go to several hundred dollars.

And there are legal resources - everything included in the editor/RTP for example, and you can expect to find legal resources on our boards given time for the artists here to make them.
