The download links are windows only, the Mac Version is currently only on steam.

No offense but let's not overstate the obvious. Some Mac users have to restart their laptops or reinstall steam to download it. Worked with a few of my friends and I.

So, maybe I'm just blind, but... where would I find the installer for the Linux version? I'd love to finally be able to stop running it through WINE.

I think like the mac version, it is steam only.

Bleh. I mean, I HAVE the Steam version, so that's not an insurmountable problem, but I much prefer using the standalone.

Thanks.

Ok So my reply seems useless, i reinstalled both MV versions i have and reinstalled the update and it works fine.....so the update must have done something to break it but works fine now :)

Had no idea what the Tools option was for, so I read the email I got about this update - wow! MV Tools has so many possibilities. The SAKAN -Tileset Editor already sounds insanely useful; I can't wait to see what tools will be developed in the future.

Hmm I wonder if there is a way for me to pass my extended generator as a tool too.
Wondering the same thing. Would be nice to be able to write tools like this. Specially if they made MV refresh the files we modify so that the user doesn't need to constantly close and reopen it.

The tutorial that is implemented in the program is pretty buggy.
Example: I start the part 2.
In the beginning it asks: "Do you have the project from the previous part of the tutorial?" I click yes... And nothing happens. I have to click again, again,... About 20 times before it moves to the next step, which is load the project.
It is a great tutorial though, it is just very basic...

Native Linux Client WOOOH!!!! (We are the 1% fellow linux users ^.^)
One Question what does the "for Desktop mode" mean?
Did i miss a new feature that is not a destop editor?

And another question: Will the MV tools get ported to linux too?

Kinda wondering is the MV linux port is completely a linux port or you use a third-party windows emulation tools like wine?

That might possibly encourage me to switch to Linux within the next 7 days, and join Steam (who happen to have a sale on at the moment). I assume that I will have to buy the Linux copy through Steam even though I own the stand alone version of MV.

I was on dual boot, but had problems with Windows so had Windows re-installed, without the dual boot. I would still like to go back to Linux Ubuntu, though. RPG Maker MV is the main thing that I want Windows for.

No
The key of the standalone version doubles as steam key, you can use it to activate the same licence on steam, and that gives you access to both the mac version and the steamOS/Linux version.

Thank you for that information, @Andar. That takes the pressure off a bit. (I have a few non-RPG Maker things that need doing urgently.)

If these Tools are what I think they are, could something like Yanfly's Icon Generator become a tool too? Perhaps we'll finally get a monster generator, complete with map sprites, you know, for those of us who prefer map encounters over random encounters.

You know.. I... I kinda lost my interest in living a long time ago. What sustains me is a lack of interest in dying.
Like a star that is balanced between the forces of gravity and outward pressure, I feel like the energy to produce that outward pressure is weakening. I feel like I should pull a Stardew Valley and revert to a more primitive lifestyle, away from others. :(
made more sprite for the Time passing game that I may or may not actually make. At least now I have a better idea how to make Rtp Walk sprites actually look wrinkly and old, since the Generator doesn't do that.
Well, now all of my Refreshable Events scripts also feature some brand new demos to let people see how easy it is to let the script handle the refreshing of a given set of events. All of this with just one specific script call per event!
Sorry Kitty...I'm practicing my harmonics. RIP your ears.
I noticed they now have a Gremlins cartoon. Nothing like striking when the iron is hot then trying to make a reboot from a movie made 34 years ago.
