Hey everyone, the latest version of RPG Maker MV is here!

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to do the following steps before updating to ensure that when the update happens so your changes won’t be overwritten:
  • If you haven't already and are using steam to update, set RPG Maker MV's update to manual instead of automatic.

  • Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
  • Replace BGM files if you got it from 1.3.0.
If you have an old project that needs updating, do the following:
  • Make a backup of your project.
  • Create a new project or go to the NewData folder in your RPG Maker MV root (where MV is installed) folder.
  • Copy the new js files (RPG*.js and Libs Folder) and replace the one in your -old project.
  • DO NOT COPY plugins.js (the script file that stores all your plugin settings) or it will replace your plugin settings.
  • Copy index.html files to your current project.
  • It should now be updated!

Thanks for the update, Archeia!

I'm testing right now the new Spanish localization to see if there are any errors to be fixed in future updates. As I saw, there are two or three things I would like to fix (my fault), but the rest I think it's okay.

UPDATE: I've corrected those errors in the Aluxes Translation Server. But I'll take my time to see if there are more errors with the re-translation, and fix them as soon as I can.

Is there a way to change SAKAN's localization settings as well? Despite MV being set to run in English, SAKAN still overrides this and starts itself in Spanish. :/

Unfortunatelly, I don't know how SAKAN Tileset Editor works, about the quality of the translation or how to change the language of the tool. Another thing I would like to say is that I don't have access to the translation strings for SAKAN's tool, so I cannot edit or fix possible errors within the Spanish texts for that tool.

Seems to have deadened my game has the new update. Every time the player takes a step something goes wrong with encounter update and the game dies.

Precisely yesterday I went back to using mv after about 2 months of inactivity.
I started a new project and before I could even do anything to it (no plugins or creating more than a couple basic maps with no events), I got the error "TypeError: undefined is not a function" when playtesting.
It happens with every new project, but now old projects.
Is this caused by the update, and how can I fix it?

Managed to force the console to open (it didn't let me hit F8 before, had to change index file) and got this:

I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe sometimes you can get an error from the %20 in this line
(/C:/Users/thooruchan/Documents/Games/Siklo%20Demo/js/main.js:8)rpg_managers.js:1756SceneManager.catchException

This is usually caused by having a space in the folder name.
Is your folder named "Siklo Demo". If it is try renaming it to "Siklo_Demo" or "SikloDemo" see if that fixes the issue..

Why am I getting the error "unable to read Game.RPGPROJECT" I did everything that was advised.

Guys,

Don't do this update. I have lost every single RPG MAKER related data file on my computer. All have been overwritten. All the one's in my dropbox are overwritten now too. They've all been overwritten. I've just lost 900+ hours work. I think I am done with RPG Maker. All of this ranting and raving about not wanting to break people's project and now everything is gone.

No update can overwrite any project, that is why the instructions are there to manually update project.
However, it has been said times and times again that you should NEVER work directly on a cloud-saved folder. That WILL increase the chance of destroying the project, because the way the RPG-Makers need to access the files is not compatible with the way a cloud synchronises its folders.

So every time you open a project in your dropbox folder (instead of opening in a different folder and only copy it into the dropbox after you're finished), you run a risk of destroying every file in the dropbox. And that can't be changed.

And if there are other files lost outside the dropbox folder, then again that simply can't happen unless either you or a background program (including viruses) access those other files. It's simply not possible (especially because the update doesn't even know in which folders your projects are).

I have (had) a file on dropbox as backup. My game files were saved in folders on my desktop. Now every single one of them is blank. The project names are still the same but most won't load and those that do have had all the tabs reset to their base like they were brand new. All of them. Every single RPG Maker game on my laptop, even the Demos that people had made for me for plugins. The ONLY thing I have left is my game art. Everything else is freaking gone! >:(

Since RM doesn't have the capability to alter files without input either the files are all fine or something else altered them. My guess is that there's something preventing RM from reading the files properly, like a faulty install or a bad disk sector. I really hope you haven't gone through and deleted them once you realized that they weren't opening. Try reinstalling RM.

The game.rpgproject file is thankfully a dummy file. Make a new project and copy that game.rpgproject file over (making sure to back up your old files first!), that should allow you to still open the project. Also, what happens when you make a new project? Does it still work?

PS: This might be best in its own thread, so that you can get help from more people.

I'm not exactly sure how the tutorials are supposed to run, but all I know is I press 'start tutorial', nothing happens, and if I go into help again it says 'stop tutorial'..

@Rhino as mentioned in the first post the tutorials are a new feature that is not yet fully stable, and it has already been reported that sometimes you need to click on a button several times before it registers.
