Just noticed something after a while... There's at least one BGM that doesn't loop correctly (03_Ice_Labyrinth). I don't know if I should report it somewhere or what. I've also got myself an edited version with that loop fixed if there's someplace to submit it, too.

I have something that might come across rude- but it's no way intentional to those who worked so hard on this program. But it frustrates me when I do it. I realize the updates are for fixing the program's short comings that occasionally get discovered but sometimes I wonder to myself if I should bother updating it.

I understand that my project is using alot of utility that may stretch normal conventions of plugins intended use- but after doing hundreds of bug testing and repairs to finally get a working system and preparation for the next step- I often find myself back to fixing again when I update the program.

The frustrating thing is, I read up on the updates to see what changes are made, most cases I see translation issues which leads me to believe that it would have no impact on my project- but somehow it does. Or for some reason there is a grid issue that has been fixed and to my understanding I would also see no issues to occur further. But these somewhat minimal changes do have consequences and cause strange bugs/crashes with functional plugins that were installed before the program updates. The easy thing to do for me would be to skip the update and stick to what is currently working- but the problem is when a plugin has something that needs changing-it often gets changed from my understanding into compatibility with the new program update- causing another frustrating parade of bugs/crashes and further seeking assistance.

I guess my problem is perhaps luck, lack of understanding of programming or I'm just to frustrated to continue further on.
I do realize this is the nature of game developing- and you do encounter hurtles. But at this point I'm finding it difficult to decide whether I should update or not to save me trouble- or to prepare me for future plugins that could enhance my game.

Thank you for reading.

@Skurge that is why the project updates are always manual, never automatic - to allow the developer to decide which project he wants to update and which one is that close to finishing that he can do without updating core files (which has always a risk of incompatibility).

At the beginning (RMMV 1.0) the updates were much more important because they were desperately needed bugfixes, but they become more and more improvement patches over the last year when the bugs were ironed out.

You should still update the editors, but the decision to update the projects is yours alone - and you can even test the project updates with a backup before proceeding.
Just remember: you cannot skip updates - if you stop updating a project, you'll deny that project all future patches as well.

Just to be certain: because I do keep backups and I am keen on going back on an older version. 1.4.0 I believe was the last one, how would I accomplish this?

Are you talking about the editor or the projects? Because you should always keep the editor up-to-date, even when working with projects that have not been updated.
And in case of the projects, just go to the backup of whatever version you want, the version number is included in the title lines of the core js files and can be checked with any text editor.

Well my editor is up to date (1.4.1) and I downgraded the files to my old backup- but it doesn't seem to matter at this point plugins such as Yep_MoveRouteCore keep crashing my project. :/

Yes, I'm curious about that too. It just said "Update required" and I can find no notification or info on any update other than the one from April. I let it run and it updated very quickly and whatever it was didn't mess with the Character Generator but I don't know if I need to do anything with my current project files.

So no one can tell us what the last update was?
