@Skurge that is why the project updates are always manual, never automatic - to allow the developer to decide which project he wants to update and which one is that close to finishing that he can do without updating core files (which has always a risk of incompatibility).
At the beginning (RMMV 1.0) the updates were much more important because they were desperately needed bugfixes, but they become more and more improvement patches over the last year when the bugs were ironed out.
You should still update the editors, but the decision to update the projects is yours alone - and you can even test the project updates with a backup before proceeding.
Just remember: you cannot skip updates - if you stop updating a project, you'll deny that project all future patches as well.
