I am just curious to know if everyone who claims to have problems with the latest updates have "plugins" and if the people who don't have any/0 "plugins" have problems with the latest MV update.

Hello, I came from Japan.
I have created and distributed a patch to fix bugs related to Scene_Item of ver1.6.
I'd like to test the patch because I want to check that there are no problems with this fix.
In the Japanese community, there is a report that this plugin corrected successfully.

Terms of Use:
This plugin is released under the MIT License.

Does anyone have a video of gene in action? I'd love to see it work but I won't be upgrading to 1.6 for a while (plugin compatibilities I've gotta fix first).

The current patch for the freeze bug isn't really good;
Code:
Scene_Item.prototype.update = function() {
    Scene_ItemBase.prototype.update.call(this);
    if (this._categoryWindow.active !== true && this._itemWindow.active !== true && this._actorWindow.active !== true) {
        this._categoryWindow.activate();
    }
};
(if there is no activate window, activate category window)
since there are some plugins add new windows, and the above 'if' condition doesn't contain them.
It will cause there to be two activated selectable window; or some other problems.
Some of Yanfly's plugins are also effected by this patch, meaning this a big problem.

This fixes the freeze bug, and also make other plugins no need to be modified.

This bug has been found and discussed a long time ago in the Japanese Forum;
and the plugin mentioned above could give a stable solution.


I can't thank all MV staffs enough to make MV better and better;
1.6.0 is really a good upgrade to the speed and functions. Thank you!
Hope you can easily fix the bugs.

I have no other plugin and no problem on my side, just an update of my personal codes and study the new change.

As with any software, it must progress.
This is the same when Adobe makes critical updates to progress.
All scripts and plugins of the latest version no longer work and crash.

For the use that I make, I find this update super and an exceptional performance gain thanks to the new chromium engine and nwjs.

The only plugins I have are the original ones that come with 1.5.1. (The Made with MV plugin for example.)

Yes. Right now. Don't know why, it used to work a few hours ago. I've just created a new project and it isn't working at all. What a ****ing mess!

Edit: Strangely enough, it worked again after a good old windows restart :D

I have no problems with playtesting, but I haven't tried with a new project so far.

Does it at least work if you open the "index.html" in your browser?
If it does, you can use that instead. I used to debug my game in the browser whenever the debugger refused to put breakpoints in rpg_objects.js in 1.5.1.

Yeah, I spent all day yesterday trying to fix everything that broke after the 1.6 update, but this event tileset crashing bug is a bridge too far for me. Reverting back to 1.5 now. This update is totally broken.

If you're on Steam:
Right click>Properties>Betas>1.5.1.

I was going to say that it's a Steam thing, but seems like the standalone does it too. I did update the Yan JS files, but hold of for 1.6.1 I guess.
I have the normal and the Steam version, but prefer normal, since I hate steam. Anyways..
Reverting back for the others.. there is a post in the beginning about that, and for the windows version, just re-install V1.5.1 Not that hard :)

btw. Is there a Gene video to see what it does? Seems like it's only for Steam and not compatible with existing items from what I've been reading ?

I am officially amused. One of the NPCs in my project is basically meant as the guy you check in with to point you where you should go next, including if you’ve been away for a bit and have forgotten.

I can conclusively say he does his job nicely. I was out of town over the weekend. I had forgotten what I was working on, so I checked what I had last done with him for a reminder. ^.^
While talking about anime with a friend got the idea of doing this. :kaopride:
