I was interested in GENE as well, but haven't seen anything about it. Also- is it only compatible with the 1.6 version?

Ok, so is 1.6.1 coming anytime soon? I fixed most scripts and my project is running okay as far as I've tested it...so I don't know if I should wait or not.

I get the purpose of gene, makes things easier nothing wrong with that as heck I support visual scripting which honestly is something I wish RM had... Godot has a pretty good example of what Visual Scripting should be, as Does GMS2 but now I'm getting off topic...

I do feel 1.6 was rushed, granted RM isn't my main engine and I've made that clear but there's bugs that prevent people from even running 1.6 and those should have been resolved prior to release.

Usually when an RM is released you don't see this many updates if at all, it get's released and that's it... Love to see the updates. hopefully 1.6.1 fixes most problems for people :)

@LTN Games How many people were actually aware of the beta is a question to ask, if nobody is aware of something than nothing is going to get done. I do not check the twitter or facebook feeds, I just pop in now and then, show some sprites, chat, and be on my merry way. They should announce stuff like this in steam saying, try the next beta release and explain what it is and how to submit bugs etc.

This is why I love github projects, easy to submit bugs or fixes :)

I'm really glad they hadn't updated the store download yet when I got this last night. Since my Trial was almost over I finally got around to buying the program for my product keys. I was going to upgrade to 1.6 today, but since I'm still learning everything I'm not sure if I should wait to actually upgrade yet or not?

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes? Maybe they had a deadline that they had to meet with 1.6 being released. Also, who knows how many were actually testing the Beta. I read in one thread that it was mentioned that "they didn't have time" to fix a known bug before it was released, which was like, well, no. Fix your bugs before you release it.

Either way, there really is no point in being angry or assigning blame, what should happen now is working towards getting a functional 1.6. version that everyone can enjoy.

My animations are hurting the memory dump really much now... Don't know how 1.6 is handling animations now but excessive animations make the game lag like crazy and that problem occurred when upgrading to 1.6 and not in 1.5.1

Alright, I drove the engine to the max to see what breaks; here is the error message:

Failed to execute 'getImageData' on 'CanvasRenderingContext2D': Out of memory at ImageData creation

So def. memory dump of images is handled badly. Please look into this...

And same here...just had a horrible crash on my mobile game version after the game slowed down more and more when animations played, it crashed the whole system. This is no joke, stay away from 1.6.0 if your game is picture heavy.

Why does it force me to update the javascript for just wanting to test play my game? I don't want to update, my game isn't going to be using that version of NWJS!

Is there a way to download old version of RPG Maker MV, because I don't want this update and it's trying to bring me kicking and screaming to ruin my project with it?

@Tuomo L The opening post tells you how to do that.

I don't see anything about turning my Steam version to previous build or running the test play without updating the JS.

EDIT: You guys need to make a new branch to Steam that everyone can opt to and call it "1.51 version" or something.

EDIT 2: There's option for that in betas but I swear that I didn't have an option for that earlier and it asked me for password to join a private beta.

EDIT 3: Wait a second, wasn't the new preloader system going to be included in 1.60? What happened with it?

I know it's free, but since I'm still learning how to use the program as a whole, I don't want to be trying to learn while having errors popping up that I don't know what they even are. I'm still really new to programing as a whole and don't understand a lot of the simple stuff is some cases. Once I know what I'm doing and understand how things work it won't be an issue.

I forgot to ask before, @Archeia This new version of MV, thanks to chromium 61, is compatible with webassembly, right?(And by that, allowing C/C++ and other languages to be used on all platforms, even mobile which nowadays support it in a beta state, I think)

If the answer is yes, the implementation of C code(example) would be via plugins? Or is there some more modifications necessary for it to work?

I'm not sure if this bug is new since 1.6.0, or if it's been around since 1.5.1, but...

B-E tiles mess up the 4-dir passability of A tiles.

If you set an A tile to be impassable from the right, and place a B-E tile with full passability on top of it, the character can pass from the right.
I'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen.

Or am I missing something? I mean, it can't be that a flower at the edge of a cliff allows me to walk right through the cliff, right?

Yes, that is supposed to happen and is the same as the previous versions. Imagine a ladder (B-E tiles) which goes up a wall (A tile), the A tile is impassable from all directions but the player can still climb the ladder. The B-E tiles can override the passability of the A tiles.

Ok, that makes sense.
Is there something I can do to avoid this?

I would recommend that you start a thread in the RPG Maker MV support forum to see what solutions people in the community have come up with.
