I like the idea of mixing 2D top down overworld/town exploration with 3D (or mode7) style dungeon crawling. I think there's a lot of potential there for creative people to do some pretty interesting things. More options means more opportunities for interesting games. Its not a genre I am particularly familiar with but its something I can definitely see myself experimenting with.
The Ultima games for NES are like that; top down view with FPLE dungeons.

I'd rather want it to be a simple sector-based 3d engine (think doom and duke3d). It still would be retro and if you want, you could make a maze, but it would be a more powerful tool as a whole and allow for other stuff as well.

Yes, it could be rendered using WebGL, but then again, most Doom source ports are rendered in OpenGL (except ZDoom, that one still wears its CPU rendered heritage as a merit badge which I love about it).

Looks like it wasn't enough feedback.

Keep in mind they are busy on other projects, and this is not going to be as simple as make it in 3 months and release. It will probably take years to finish it if they do it.

@sim22x : Interesting videos, but I looked at 4 of them and either all links are dead or the were demos only and are not completed plug-ins or scripts. Not sure what the point was of posting those if all they are were concept demos or dead links (or both) and not completed scripts/plug-ins.

I'd be quite interested--I love old-school SMT. I realize several plugins have sought to do this across RM engines with varying degrees of success, but currently it requires quite a bit of customization and resources to get those to work well.

I'd be willing to try it. Not sure if as an expansion or standalone software, but I'd be totally on board with it if I saw more of a working concept for what's being planned, if anything.

i vote no sorry.
There are already 10aine of engine (openSource) which allows to do this and in a very good way.
Why not rather devote the energy of the developer on the current rpg maker mv platform which cruelly lacks of good functionality.

if it's a question of money, you just have to create paid extentions.
Like Unity or Adobe does it so well.

I would buy the tool if it has enough resources to use it. I have fond memories of games like Phatasy Star, and more recently the DS titles that were similar. Again, there would have to be enough resources to use it, but, otherwise, I think it would be a solid addition.

I still would like this tool alot. Please give us an update if possible, please and thank you.

I second all that.

Dear Degica Team,

could you give us at least a lifesign so we know whether it's worth waiting for it? I would clearly prefer using such a tool to the top-down perspective, but if it's not going to happen for the next five years or something (or never ever, which I could totally understand - you are not Activision or something), I'd like to know so I could concentrate on a project with what's available. I just don't want to misallocate my time/workpower resources. In short:

a) It will happen, 2018 or 2019 (fine, I'll happily wait)
b) It will happen, but could easily take 4+ years (fine, I'll start another project then)
c) It won't happen (fine, I'll start another project then)

Just a single letter, please? Thank you very much for all the work.

I don't work for Degica but I think it would be best not to wait for it. I've seen polls like this before, and if something happens it usually doesn't take this long before there's an announcement of the new thing. My guess is that it didn't get enough initial interest or there was an unexpected problem that caused the project to be dropped. That doesn't mean that there's no chance of it happening, just that I doubt there's currently any projects in the works.

But it seriously started to pique our interest ^^ If not, at least our curiosity! :)

Well, that's at least some kind of input. However, I still don't get what is keeping them from giving a clear answer? It's not like we're all set to go after them with pitchforks or something

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
