I have always been attracted to the RPG maker series, and decided to go ahead and buy it late last year when it was on sale. Over the past few months i have been using it for a little of 10-30 mins at a time to learn and get used to the software. I have been working on it all day today, launched without problems and i was creating sprites. I accidentally closed the software , and now whenever i try to carry on i seem to get this screen, and cannot do anything. I have tried updating my Graphics Card because apparently it was a known cause, ive also reinstalled the steam game to see if that was the cause. Still no cigar, it would be really nice if i got a little help with getting my program back up and running. Since i want to get to work on my assignment and enjoy creating games like other people who have bought this software.

I thought i would give a little information on the system information:
Windows 10 Pro , 64 Bit Operating System - NVidia Geoforce GTX 970 and an Intel Core I5-6600K CPU. If you need anything else, let me know as it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you having any other PC issues? I'm curious because after a Steam update a couple of weeks ago, which I think included the last MV update, I started having a ton of issues with Windows. I run an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 950m and had also read about conficts with Steam and other models of NVIDIA drivers. Not trying to highjack your question - just trying to see if there's a more universal issue at play here.

If it did work before, it is unlikely that the display driver is too old (that is the usual reason for whitescreen). And if reinstalling MV doesn't help, then it's unlikely to be a damaged editor either.

That leaves two other possible causes.
The unlikely one is a damaged display driver that didn't get repaired when you tried to update because the updated believed it to be already the latest one. In that case you would have to deinstall the driver before installing the newest one - but as said that is rather unlikely as a cause.

Most likely is that another program that recently got updated or installed is blocking the MV editor.
In that case you'll have to search for it on your computer, there is little beside tips we can do from here.
Possible programs for such an effect are:
1) anti-virus or anti-malware that thinks MV is a virus since some update - has happened several times before and it usually takes a few days for the antivirus company to correct their error. You need to whitelist the editor in the program responsible for this
2) access restriction programs (from parental guidance to security network services and firewalls) - again, you need to find it but in this case you always need to whitelist the editor, this will not get resolved with any update later
3) video capturing programs - there is one program that gets installed with several display drivers, if it detects a "steam-game" launching it automatically activates screen capture for a let's play - and MV would look like a steam-game to that program. It is known to block Ace - I haven't heard it blocking MV yet but most people who used Ace on steam before already disabled it, so it might have escaped notice so far.
4) other background programs that work on internet files, damaged windows and a few more options...

I have not had problems with steam games recently, played Rust, Insurgency and Garrys Mod without problems.

Ok ill give these steps a try, i have checked the Updates/Changes to programs and it seems that BitDefender Free Edition had an update today. I must try and get a way to add an exception of sorts so that it can go through?

and reguarding the video capturing software ? what would the name of this software be?

i have turned of my anti-virus software so that i could test to see if that was the problem. it still had the same problem. I also made sure the windows firewall was letting the inbound traffic for RPG Maker. I also unistalled Fraps to make sure it was conflicting, and with windows 10 my system is automatically updated. Any other ideas that i could try?

not unless you give us a list of your installed programs - there are too many different options to even guess if the ones listed above aren't the cause.

Sorry i have taken so long, been a busy weekend. But i have compiled a collection of screenshots. Including all the programs installed on my device, along with all the processes that are running. Hope it helps a little with the problem >.< . Sorry for causing a hassle.. i just really want it working again.

sorry - assuming that you already checked bitdefender, there is nothing else that could intentionally block MV.
Just make sure that you don't work on the project while the project is on the cloudspace as that can damage the project, but it should do nothing to the editor if that happens.

There is just one thing you might try: manually deinstall the display driver by changing it to a default driver, then install a new download of the current driver again. That can help if the driver itself was damaged in a way that prevents the regular driver setup from detecting (and replacing) the damaged file (in this case, the OGL library that is used by MV but not by many other games, those usually use the DX-library instead of OGL

If that doesn't help, someone needs to go to your computer to make a few checks on possible causes, nothing we could do through the internet

My Windows Steam RMMV does this white screen thing in Windows 8.1 running on my Mac in VMware Fusion. I can run the Mac version on my Mac tho; I'm used to certain apps not running in VMware. I only need to run the Windows version on my laptop with Windows, so this no problem for me. So I'm not going to piggyback my thing onto this thread, but I am curious to see the solution and see if it will work for my VMware Windows RMMV.

@mogwai in case of a virtual machine like VMware, that is most likely not the same cause like this one here, but the original cause for the whitescreen: an outdated OpenGL-Library of the display driver. The problem with virtual machines is that they usually have their own drivers to redirect the original output to a window of the real computer, and that can play havok with any special display command if that command is not supported directly in the internal segments of the VM.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
