RPG maker MV error is making me crazy

Well the thing is I'm new to this thing I need help as much as possible but the thing is when I want to save my project a message appears says can't write Actor.json I tried to fix the problem by making a new project but it's still the same

where did you try to save/where did you make your project (full path please)?


There are only two possibilities here: Either the editor can't access the path to the files, or something has write-protected your files.


The full path description can help us identify most of the known problems like illegal letters in the path (RMMV rerquires full networking compatibility on all project paths, that is more restrictive than windows itself due to deployment options) or if the path is in one of the restricted areas of windows or so.

Deployment is when the game is finished and you have problems deploying it to mobile or web or so

The project files are in a folder i made in the desktop I keep them there to remove all restriction but it's not working yet

there are reasons why I asked for the exact path - and depending on user name, the desktop (which is below the user name in modern windows) may be blocked for RMMV.

Hello Andar, I hope that it is not a problem for me to add my personal solution to this thread, though it is my first posting. I actually joined specifically because of this conversation.


I was having the EXACT same problem as KalvenR15.


The operating system was Windows 7. I am not sure how this would translate using a Mac or within a Linux OS.

The steps that I took to remedy the problem were:

• Go into the installation folder (example: C:/program files(86)/RPG Maker MV 1.3.1)
  
• Locate the folder titled "New Data" -- This is the folder that every new project copies from
  
• Access the folder - You should see the following folders: audio, data, fonts, icon, img, js - You should also see a file titled "index"
  
• Highlight all items 
  
• Right click and choose to look at "properties"
  
• This should bring up a multiple file properties screen
  
• Clear the "Read Only" box
  
• Click apply
  
• Start RMMV, create a new project, and save - There should no longer be any issue
