which version of the RMMV have you installed? That sounds like an old problem of the 1.0 that was fixed shortly after launch - currently we are at 1.3.1

If you really have the 1.0, please completely deinstall it again and download the full installer for the 1.3.1 linked at top of the forum.

If you have a current version, then it's most likely one of your background program blocking (anti-virus, anti-malware, parental guidance or whatever)

then you need to check your background prgrams and their logs to find out which one is blocking the execution of the editor. If you haven't found the cause, then that is because you haven't checked the correct part of your antivirus or whatever it is - happened before, someone was adamant that he had checked his antivirus and a week later he corrected himself - he had found the correct part of his antivirus (which consistet of several different parts) only after it tried to delete the editor file...

I have the latest version. I have checked all firewall and Antivirus software. No other software on my laptop is causing any issues. I have over 10 years IT experience so I don't want to hear another excuse that the problem is Antivirus or other software.

RPG Maker MV freezes within 2 minutes of startup every time. My computer is brand new and is i7 with 12gb ram.

There is an issue with rpg maker mv, and I need a resolution.

It's not happening for anyone else, so it's something on your computer and not MV.  Please don't insult our staff who are trying to help you - if you have so much experience with IT, and know better than anyone else, then you shouldn't need our help.  If you do need our help, then at least consider that you might be wrong about it.

Only thing I don't see mentioned above is possibly uninstalling 1.3.1 and reinstalling. Or maybe try a earlier version like 1.2.0.

@Polymathx: If you want to compare: I have the equivalent of a Master's Degree in computer engineering and about 25 years of IT experience - and even I know that I don't know everything and learn some new effects on how computer operate once or twice a year....

Fact is that most people don't experience such crashes, so they are dependent on the computer where they happen. You can easily compare that if you check the forum posts from around Oct 2015 when MV was first sold, because the 1.0 version had a bug that crashed the editor on international Windows (on countries where the use of . and , in numbers were reversed to be precise). That is the number of crash reports you'll get when there is a bug in the software itself, and when that error was fixed a few days later the bug reports mostly vanished.

It might very well be that we didn't have all possible influences yet, but no programmer can prevent a crash that is caused by a tertiary program he didn't know.  And here we need the users to check for the programs on their computers that are causing problems instead of insisting that they can't make a mistake.

Just as an example: about two or three month ago several people were reporting crashes on their Steam-Ace (which had run perfectly for them before and hasn't been updated in about a year), and it took a month until some user found out that their graphic driver installed a new program for video capturing, that was automatically launched whenever a steam-"game" was launched (for easier Let's Play) and that program caused the crash of Ace.

A request for a refund after months, especially if it worked all time and only failed after you switched computers? I consider that really unlikely.

And if you had tried everything, it would now work - there is something on the new computer that blocks this, and you need to find out what that is.

And we can't help you with that if you didn't give us infos about your background programs.
