Welcome to the first MV Game Making Drive.  By now a lot of you have had time to really look at the new program and get a feel for what you would like to do.

 

This GMD is here to help you with that.  Many have already started, some are porting over, and others are still deciding what they can do.  No matter where you are in terms of development this GMD is for you.  A place where you can spend the next week and get motivated by witnessing the progress of others, while at the same time making your own effort to take your game forward.  

 

That means you can work on anything so long as you produce something towards your goal.  It can be graphical, musical, or a plug in.  Participants will get

Where do we begin?  

Why not tell us a little something about your project and set a goal you intend to get done before next week.  How does your work 

emphasize your game's strengths, or strengthen someone else's game?  Daily posts are not required, but screen shots, videos, and WIPs are highly encouraged with your posts.

 

 

 

Should we have enough participation, I could look into running a GMD monthly rather than weekly for those interested.  This GMD will last from the 9th to the 16th, so if you haven't already now is the time to get your feet wet.

So, I will begin =)

My project is about a mad god of life who have been sealed long time ago, and a group of people are trying to bring him back. The main character is just a random soldier in a war between 2 countries who have been captured. We're still writing the main story with a friend ^^

By next week, i would like to have my plugins correctly working together and the maps of the intro/tutorial correctly photoshoped (and maybe the events done ^^)

Busy week for me, not much time today, traveling tomorrow and Friday, but we'll see what I can get done.

My project is set in the future, in a more magical version of our world. Though the magic has mostly been forgotten a group (currently nameless, I'm bad at names) using a fusion of magic and technology travel time to keep magical objects out of the wrong hands and/or time.

So, someone (Again, no names yet) goes back in time using un-licensed methods to get a magical object and bring it back to the (in-game) present. So, our team will set off to stop him.

Mine is a bit different: I want to have my database completed: all skill names + costs, armors, weapons, accessories with all their stats and most important all the stats/upgrades etc. that go into my Relic upgrading system.

So it's not something shareable like a plugin. Is it allowed? I can share screenshots or the excel files or info on how to do it and share some helpful stuff like generators.

My project is to do a game or collaborate in someway on one feature the 16 cover art characters.

My goal for the week is to research the names of all of the characters and make notes as to the name origins and meanings of them as this will be important in determining the personality, backgrounds, etc. of the characters.  (All 16 of those characters have a specific name which is clearly shown on the Japanese site in English and in Japanese with an image of what character the name goes to.)

Anyways, I can tell here that I'm still working on converting my game to MV. Until now I've been doing some little tilesets, facesets, playing with javascripts. Here comes a screenshot of my training room then ^^

So this is a MV-project-focused version of Goals and Progress thread.
 
So as for my project, only Yanfly's Learn Skill is the only plugin left that I used back when my project was still in VXAce, which is supposed to be released this Friday the 13th. But while waiting, I'm just only populating enemies in fields and NPCs in towns, putting some quests in the quest window, and fixing bugs for the meantime. So far, I populated only 1 field map. :rswt:

At first when I had the idea to continue the GMD tradition for MV I was thinking the same thing myself.  The difference between the month long progress and goals as compared to GMD is being more focused and having other people who want to accomplish similar goals alongside you for a shorter period of time.  Think of it as an intense burst of motivation and determination.  Here we have people who are getting their bearings with a new dev environment.  

EDIT: Also I originally intended this to be opening weekend activity, but it got pushed back.

That's perfectly fine.  What is a Relic upgrading system?  Spread sheets are the stuff of dreams for databases.

That being said,  I am currently working on some more monster sprites.  The new boss sized ones look intimidating so I will be working myself up to those for next time.  I've gotten more experienced with the style, and so far it's yielded some pleasing results.


I'll try working with a naga next, and getting generator parts together for something more special.

GMDs were the original goals & progress thread guys :p

My goal for this GMD is just to get as much done on my MV try-out project as I can. The basic plot of my project is to relift a curse on the crown prince Franz. Unfortunately all the heroes are occupied, so Chico, the clown, Penny, the bunnygirl, Morgan, the fortune-teller and Alexandre, the prince's butler are send on this quest. The story's pretty cliché, because I just would like to finish something and using a simple story like this will hopefully help me. ;)   (The imp's one of the antagonists.)



Prior to the start of this event, I've been doing the above graphics, made two small maps and have outlined a basic plot.

Today I continued with the graphics as I still had to edit a sprite and face for another antagonist. I can't however decide which one I like the best >.<



With this done though, I can focus on dialogue/scene writing and the database. :3

@DivaThug/Scythuz: What's that purple thing supposed to be behind "Diva"? (I was thinking maybe a butterfly, but I'm not seeing it :p )

It's my take on a system to uprade the character's stats. Like Materia, License Board etc. Religion plays an important role in my game, hence the name.

Ooh, this is interesting. Hopefully it'll help me get the motivation I need to finish my project "Ghostling" which is about... uh ghosts.

It's actually only a side-project though. My main project was first made in VX, then brought to Ace and now I'm working on bringing it over to MV. So, my progress for today was making a similar-ish sprite for the main character (a thief, btw):

This project itself is in short about this dude stealing stuff and accidentally getting mixed up in some hero business, although he's the exact opposite of that. I'm sure I'll make a few more edits in time, but for now I'm just glad to have something to work with. Since the maps were mostly parallaxed or in need of some editing anyway, importing that won't be as hard as the sprites, so let's see if I can get some more done during this week. :')

I have an overall plot I want for my next game all planned out, but I'm pretty much just waiting to see what bug fixes and new plugins come out before I really begin working on it. I have all my characters planned out and pretty much everything except for the very start of the game is planned out in my head, but yeah, I'm just waiting on stuff :3

My game will be a Space Opera similar to the Star Ocean series and Rogue Galaxy (almost decided to make a game set in the SO universe).

Right now I'm just trying to outline the plot and characters the best I can. Doing a bit of mapping, but sadly, I'll have to put that on hold due to a bug. I can do some mapping though.

This is my chance to actually get something done! Hopefully, posting here will encourage me to get a decent amount of work done.

My current goal is to get a decent amount of work in my game done. I don't really care if my project doesn't get finished, as long as I have a good size of work done, I'll be happy with it. I've started multiple projects in the past and never got around to finishing them.

I'm currently in the process of attempting to create a simple fantasy RPG, aiming to use only the RTP and the basic features of the software as best as I can. When I started to create something in the past, I always took lots of time focusing on very small areas which really slowed me down. I directly attempted to create a quality game which I know is a common thing that happens. For this project, I plan to focus more on achieving things rather than focusing on the quality of the game.

I'm currently in the process of making the opening for the game. My plan is to progress more on creating the opening and possibly finish it during the next two weeks. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to do anything for the next week and a half as I'm really busy with things.

My goal is to get the first section of my little MV project all evented.  Ideally I'll also get the battles balanced, but knowing me it'll take a while to do that.

Due to the nature of where our game is right now, we can't really post any screenshots.

What I can tell you is that we have over 600 weapons, I would like to get the stats laid out for all of them by Monday next week.

I would also like to get the names and concepts of armors by the same day.

We should be able to choose a voice actor for our main character, Tamiko, by next week as well.

I'm also going to think of some more items, since that is what I'm in charge of, but those seem to trickle into my mind while I'm in the shower or on the toilet xD

I can show you this as a screenshot, though. Here's our evented title screen I've been working on. Definitely a WIP, I am going to try and work in some animations as well.

Lots of compression, but oh well.

My goal is to have my mmorpg playable by next week. Well, it already is, but officially.

It's a remake of my existing mmo of five years.

By the week the following basic functions need to be done: trading, visual equipment, the base world, server side saving of variables, encryption and registration.

Login, chat, character creation and a few maps are already done.

I think I'll join this. I've accidentally cut my finger cooking a few nights ago so I can't work very well because of it, so I'll limit my self to just making 2 good, full maps of a new ice cave dungeon I want to work on. To me, this would be good and solid progress as I'm pretty weak with mapping skills.

My current project is very inspired by Final Fantasy Dimensions. There are two big main kingdoms in the world, separated on opposite ends of the world. I plan to have chapter by chapter gameplay/story telling. The red kingdom has one party, the blue kingdom has another party. Each chapter will alternate between both parties. I plan to have at least 4 main dungeons + a final one, with bosses and a town with each one. I plan the world map exploring to be somewhat linear with some open available to reward you for checking around and learning more about the lore when you do as well.
