I'm sure there is a thread on this already, but the search function isn't being friendly right now.

My RMMV trial ended, so I purchased the full product. I have these files:

BaseResource.zip

ExtraAssets.exe

extra-assets.zip

img_compressed.zip

rm-mv-plug-ins.zip

RPG Maker MV - TRP V1.1.rar

RPGMV131_W_Setup.zip

How the frack do I install everything for this program?

It looks like most of it is just install the main program and move the resources to the corresponding folders. But I'm confused by the ExtraAssets.zip, extra-assets.zip, and the "plugins" folder in rm-mv-plug-ins.zip.

How do I install those?

it all goes in your proper folders in the data folder.....really if you want you can search it out through the file explorer or you can simply use the resource manager on the top right of the menu bar, either move everything you have that way or you can use it to make sure you have the right file path......i would recommend that regardless of putting it in any open project you have you should also put it in the NEW DATA folder so that it is always there for new projects. Plugins go in the JS folder that is in that same data section DO NOT PUT PLUGINS IN PLUGIN FOLDER, it just wont do anything might cause issues idk, they go in JS.

Again if you have an open project find the proper location through the project manager, if you have no open projects its in the New Data folder......if its generator parts it goes in the generator folder....also if you ever get dlc there should be a DLC folder right above your generator, you still need to move those to proper folders

Extract the resources to a folder where you'll find them, but do NOT place them into the newdata folders of the program.

Everything in newdata will be copied into a new project you create, but you don't need everything in every project - that is why those resources were not included in the main installer. It doesn't make sense to copy SciFi-resources into a medieval setting game, that only takes HDD space.

Then you can manually copy those parts of the extra resources you really want to use into the project folders in which you work.

There's an ExtraAssets.exe file that, when run, creates a folder identical to the extracted folder from extra-assets.zip. That seems odd to me. Are they supposed to be the same?

In that folder are two more folders, "2000bgm" and "pictures". Are the files in those folders supposed to go in the "audio" and "img/pictures" folders, respectively? I wasn't sure since it wasn't specified.

The plugins.zip files contains a "plugins" folder. In that four folders - additional, img, js, and samples - and a readme.txt files that is mostly garbled text. The img, js, and samples folders are self-explanatory. "Additional" has a folder "img" and a file animations.json. What do I do with the json file? "Img" conatins a folder called "animations" with five png files. Do these just go in the standard "animations" folder?

I know that if I put the files in the NewData folder it'll copy them to all projects, but I'm okay with that for now. I know how to manage those files so it's not a problem. I just didn't know what to do with these particular folders.

everything there is optional resources that may be added to a project. They are only in different folders because they come from different sources - for example one of the extra assets packages was provided later, it contains only part of the other folder but has those parts recompressed for smaller filesizes.

Okay.

What about the animations.json file in plugins/additional/img?

the plugins in your .js folder are a necessity exactly where they are. the plugins in your plugin folder are option and used via the plugin manager inside the program

That doesn't help. I don't know what to do with the animations.json file that came in that folder.

you leave it where it is, its not a plugin you can actively edit, put it gets edited whenever you do anything for your animations (like battle or spell animations) those plugins in the .js folder MUST stay where they are and essentially be forgotten about...there may be some special circumstance to remove them, but as far as i know your program will not run properly

Right, I know that about the regular json files. This one was in a folder with the bonus files. Lower case "a" on "animations" instead of upper case, if that matters. It's much smaller than the regular json file so I didn't think I was supposed to replace it. I moved everything else to the right folders and have that file sitting on my desktop 'til I know what to do with it.

From my previous posts for clarification:

"The plugins.zip files contains a "plugins" folder. In that four folders - additional, im, js, and samples - and a readme.txt files that is mostly garbled text. The img, js, and samples folders are self-explanatory. "Additional" has a folder "img" and a file animations.json. What do I do with the json file?"

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
