Hey!

Wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this.

I'm pretty much living on RPG maker MV making my game at the minute but want to also spend time at my friends house. Does anyone know of any cheap/affordable laptops (ideally under £500) that could run RPG maker MV easily? I don't need it to game, just to run RPG maker MV / Test said game.

@Symbol_ If my 2005 toaster of a laptop can run MV, you should be good with any modern laptop.
Really? I've heard some users saying their BGM testing lags their laptop when trying to work on RPG Maker MV? Apparently it runs awefully on some hardware

Could I ask the make and brand of your laptop please?

Well if you load your scenes with tons of heavy parallel events or have heavy CPU plugins, than a moderate to high end laptop might have some better results, but for the average RPG Maker MV game any modern laptop will do the job just fine. No need to worry about performance too much.

@Symbol_ Both of my laptops that can run it are a Compaq Presario CQ57 and an Acer Inspire One. (The screen suffers some cut-off on the Acer Inspire One)

RPG Maker is very light, so you won't have trouble using it in old notebooks. Mine is an i3 and it holds very well.

the critical part for running the editor on a laptop is not the CPU or RAM, but the display size.

Most laptops out there (even older ones) have enough resources to run the editor, but if the display has been reduced to small size for better transportability, then it might have a resolution that is too small for the windows of the editor.
1280x768 is the minimum requirement or you won't be able to see the entirety of database screens or confirm with the OK button.
And some older notebooks with smaller displays only allow 800x600...

It doesn't need to be small. Could someone recommend/find me one that'd be big enough/run RPG maker MV?

Most common laptop resolution is 1366x768 nowadays, unless you're looking to purchase something from 20 years ago or something, anything you find on your usual store should do it.

Getting a nice used/refurbished model on Ebay is the best way in this regard. This is the best bang for buck system that I've hooked up for various clients.

Usually you're good with most laptops or desktops as long as it's an Nvidia or AMD video card. Also I've found the thing that lags games way hard compared to anything else is lighting effects.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG - $325:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
