I'm kind of wishing now that i had mentioned backwards compatibility in the "what do you want to see in the next RM" threads i posted in now

oh well. can't live life regretting missed opportunities or we will always be regretting something

Nice, pixel movement out of the box. I guess this finally make it easier to make grandia battle system with the movement on the field. Would be even better if this had improved pathfinding too

JS? Thats kinda cool. I know enough JS to maybe actually do something on my own in the new maker. B-But I'm still waiting for it to come out on steam! *Clings to ACE*

I thought I was obsessively checking and yet so much has been said since I went to sleep last night! Maybe I'm not being obsessive enough.

The number of people on here using the terms Java and Javascript interchangeably is driving me nuts. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. I can't program and I know that. It really bothers me that even programmers are doing it.

Yes, this makes me feel soooooo much better! I was having dreams about it I was so stressed. Now I'm just really excited. I really am getting everything I want in this version. Well, except Iso, but hey, maybe there will be a plugin for that too.

I meant, these tiles were used in screenies on the MV page.. It was the same tiles you used in another thread. So I thought "hey wait.. those look like the same tiles in that other thread, maybe it was mv already?"

    And I was right.

    This looks AWESOME.

Unfortunately, it means having to upgrade my computer.

An isometric plugin would be awesome. But then of course, we'd need isometric resources, and there's ... none :p

    You and me both.

I was working on a new style of character set.. my own version of Chibi and then banging my head going "WHAT?! I HAVE TO REDO THIS NOW?!"

And in fact, knowing I can do 16x16 is making me SUPER happy.

Cause.. well.. i like 16 bit looking stuff but i like all the control this maker will have...

Everything about this maker.. kinda makes having 2K3 or even 2K kinda pointless.. o_O

I said KINDA!.. Not... it IS pointless..

Well, there's none because we don't really have any streamlined isometric engines.

We do have Lavy Meta Engine -> Isometric Editor, and that was pretty awesome. It still bugged out a bit and I never got around in doing much with it, but making resources for it was rather easy. (Formatting them to use inside the maps, on the other hand, was a pain, because I'd have to manually shade every variation of every tile and there could be only so many tiles displayed at a certain time in the tiles tool so... it was rather hard. But still awesome. And it can come back on MV.)

I hope Moghunter makes lots of cool stuff.

If there's going to be a relyable isometric plugin, I'll try making isometric resources.

If they use webGL, you can also go like... 3D *cof* *cof*

I won't make any 3DS scripts, I am crazy but not too crazy for that...

I still think this looks a lot like construct2... In many ways

I doubt i will get anywhere near as frustrated with this maker as i would any of the other makers on the maket.

I can't stand Game Maker.. i can't stand Construct.. i can't stand GG Maker.. i can't stand anything from clickteam.

The only "makers" i have ever found to be easy.. and to not make my brain explode everywhere leaving brain matter all over the place.. is the RPG Maker series.

I don't open the editor and go and looking at everything.. and feel overloaded by the TONS of things to do and to click on.

My bigges issue with most makers is a feeling of anxiety with how said makers are set up.

Yea, no... Java is horribly insecure and is a horrible language!

Game Maker is awesome, kinda hope I can edit events and the player as simple as editing objects in GM.

Construct 2 is good, just... eh... not great for RPGs.

GG Maker, I can agree with you there but I found it easy, I just didn't like it's visual scripting...

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now here's hoping I can use Googles V8 engine with MV.

Should you ever do 3D-isometric resources, just take a look at Land Stalker for the SEGA Mega Drive. :) Still love the game deeply.

Zak.. you are now one of my favorite people in these forums.

I freaking LOVE the landtalker game on the genesis.

Though Isometric could also be like Super Mario RPG on the Super Nintendo.

My only gripe is I just got to fully learning VX Ace (minus scripting because I SUX at it) now MV is announced.  And all the stuff I bought might only work for VX Ace.  (sigh) I'll develop in that for a bit, then move on.

MV's resolution and 48x48 looks gorgeous, but I don't think it's enough for me to make the big shift.

Running in Java likely means all scripts made for Ace and beyond will have to be completely redone and in a different way.

I could use it for a side project though. Kinda makes me want 48x48 for Ace lol
